Block heater install help

cliansh,

Still trying to help figure this out. Looking at J.D.'s 4010 parts site for "Block Heater (Optional)", there are some significantly different part numbers than the 2210 Block Heater parts you attached.

JD 4010 Block Heater

I have a call in to my dealer's mechanic but am waiting for a call back.

I took a look at mine on the 4115 and don't think it is very helpful as it is located on the opposite side of the motor (right side from view, standing in front of tractor, looking toward motor and seat. However, I did look at the left side and found there appears to be another plug, just above the fuel filter (looks alot like your pic). I am attaching pic's of my placement (opposite side from fuel filter). Is it possible you had two options and the one you chose (ala 2210) is the wrong side for a 4010?

2nd pic of my block heater's location (may be of no help).

Sorry the JD link seems to only go tho their parts locator, not to the actual 4010 block heater parts page I tried to link.

Still waiting on call back from local JD mechanic.

cliansh,

Just talked to my mechanic. Here's his take on what is needed:

AM882530 Kit (Screws, Gasket & Adapter) [believe you have this]

AR87167 Kit (Heater & Power Cord) [Think you said you also have this]

M89154 (no description I could find, anywhere on JD website(s))
805705 (no description I could find, anywhere on JD wbsite(s))

His description is that the "adapter" should set the element back far enough from the interior parts to allow proper clearance.

Good luck...wish I could have found descriptions/pictures of those other two parts.

Thanks trlong,
My dealer did get back to me and said the official instructions on the 4010 block heater install "discard the extra parts that are no longer needed" Its a a part of the injector pump that is supposedly not needed? Still seems odd to me but I guess I have to go that route.

cliansh,

Great. Let us know how it works out. This thread could be a valuable time saver for others installing the heater on a 4010 and scratching their heads as to why it doesn't fit, as is. Does seem odd though, as you say, to have to discard a part that is "no longer needed".
