I just bought a kubota block heater part #70000-73274 for my b2150. The install instructions say to unthread a plug in the engine block with a 17mm allen wrench and replace with the heater. Sounds like it should be a simple install but I can not find where on the engine the threaded plug is located. My dealer didn't know either. Does anyone know where this should go?
Thanks...

Sitting in the drivers seat of my B2410, the block heater is on the underside of the tractor on the front left, just back of the exhaust.

I have a B2910 and it's just back from the oil filter in the side of the block.

I can not find where on the engine the threaded plug is located. My dealer didn't know either.

And he can't find out???? This seems incomprehensible to me!

This ain't brain surgery. Can't he just call the factory and find out how to install it? Has he never had a customer who wants a block heater before? I would say call him and tell him to find out.

Chris,
Thanks, I would think that because we both have V series 4 cyl. engines the heaters would be in the same location. On my machine after the oil filter is, the dip stick, three freeze plugs, then the oil presure sensor. Is your heater is installed in place of a freeze plug or in a boss on the block?
Thanks...

Thanks all, the dealer came thru. The heater is installed on the right side of the engine, under the fuel pump. There are two hoses that return to the engine from the bottom of the radiator. The solution is to cut the smaller of the hoses and plug it where it exits the radiator. Then remove the plug the other half of the hose attaches to, from the engine block and replace with the heater. I'm not sure I like the idea of having a plugged hose dangeling from the bottom of my radiator. What do you guys think?

Sure doesn't sound right to me either. My block heater is installed directly in the block of the engine. There was a threaded plug in the side, under the exhaust manifold that I unscrewed and screwed in the block heater. Just that easy. The tough part was that the plug required a 17mm Hex wrench that I had to buy at sears....something I'll prob never need again, ya know?

Anyhow, there were no hoses to cut or plug. Seems my engine was set up for this. I don't think I'd want to do any of that...seems like there would be a reason for 2 hoses to be there in the first place....

This does not sound right to me. On my 2710 there is a threaded bolt (17MM) just under the thermostat. I just removed that bolt and the block heater installed into that threaded hole. Are there any install instructions with it. This does not sound right to me. You should not have to cut a hose and plug it. is it then supposed to go into the engine block or into the end of the hose that is now unplugged?

Hey! guys ......can someone snap a pix and share with us the mysterious location /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif of this 17mm allen nut that accepts the block heater? ...Thanks, RayBee /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

They say to cut the hose at the radiator and plug it. Then remove the plug (see photo) and replace with the heater. The hose never gets reattached. I almost think I would rather not have a block heater, than run the risk of dumping all the coolant should the pluged hose blow....

buzst:Thanks for the photo! I don't have that exact situation on my engine, but a similar looking plug with no hose coming out of it. I think you should toss this around TBN a bit longer before cutting any hoses. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif Someone will come to the rescue with definitive photos of their installation, that you can feel comfortable with. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif ..RayBee

Charliebrn:Just curious, /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif is your block heater the same part no. as the one buzst posted earlier? Or do we have two diff. versions? ..RayBee

RayBee,

I'll take a pic of the block heater on my Kubota and pass it on. I sure wouldn't want to cut the hose and.....

Kevin & Scott:Thanks for volunteering to take pix! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif Maybe your photos will help to clear up the confusion re: the location of the heater plug./w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Just ask and someone will help ....That's what is great about this site. ...RayBee /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

RayBee,

Here are a series of photos of the location of the block heater for my B2410. They start zoomed out so you can place the location and move in progressively.

Hope they help.
