I don't want to mess with the freeze plug style heater so I'm going with a lower radiator hose heater. AutoZone has them cheap according to TiogaJoe. My oil pan is not magnetic so that won't work. I may add an epoxy-on type pad heater. Several threads about this subject on TBN.

WHAT to do for a block heater for new Kioti NX5010, any ideas?

Go to your dealer and get a block heater made for your tractor. If it's a core plug type you'll have to drain the cooling system to install it and it's better than a lower rad hose type heater.

No I don't. I just use the block heaters on our Ford 4610 and the NH TD95D. In really cold weather (-20°F) it would be nice to heat the transhydraulic fluids but I haven't done that. The Ferguson starts up easy as it is a much lower compression ratio gas engine. I don't feel I need a battery heater because it always starts easier after ~ 3 hours on the block heater. I have the block heater on a timer and I feed the cows at 4:30 pm so the timer turns it on at 1:30 pm and goes off at 4:30 pm. I've not had any problems with gelled fuel so I do not have a fuel heater. Buying "winter diesel" for winter operation generally precludes that problem. May people have "summer diesel" in their tanks and that can jell at around 28°F and give you some difficulties. treating fuel with Power Service, et al additives or mixing in #1 diesel 2:1( two parts #2 to one part #1 ) can help that issue but having the right fuel is the best way to go.

I use an additive to prevent fuel gelling ever since I had to walk home once.
As to heaters my block frost plug type once failed and I tried a magnetic one that I picked up at a yard sale.
Six hours later and the magnetic one still would not heat enough to start the tractor while the frost plug unit would have done the job in 3/4 hr.

I had installed a $38 Kubota Canada block heater in my old B8200, and that made a world of difference in how easy it started and how fast warmup took. They tell me I won't be needing one in my "new" L3130, but if I think it will benefit from one, it'll get one. Heating the block is the way to go, IMHO.
