Blue or Orange?

That came from another Kubota/NH dealer back in the beginning of June. Don't know if he was feeding me a line or not. I wouldn't be surprised if CNH wasn't at least working on one right now though. Kubota's sales of the BX 22 & 23's the last few years are pretty enticing to the other Sub mfr's.

I think a larger machine would be a better value, but I have been trying to imagine mowing the yard with a sub-compact and even that seems too big for certain spots. A larger machine will be less practicle. I will hopefully test the BX tomorrow and then decide. Thanks again.

Just because someone has X number of acres does not mean they should have a larger tractor. It all depends on the terrain and what they are going to do with their machine. If you have 1000 Acres with a half acre yard and you never plan on doing much beyond the edge of the grass why would you want more than a sub compact? If your going to have to maintain all that reguarly then you have a different story.

A Sub would probably do just fine, but as I have found on 2 separate tractor owning occasions over the years, once you own a tractor, you seem to find a whole lot more uses for it than you planned for while looking to buy. With the amount of work I've been doing, and plan on doing on my little 1 acre lot, I've come to realize that I could have justified going with a larger CUT. For me, since I made a large "investment" in a depreciating piece of equipment, I'm going to use the heck out of it and get my money's worth.

I made the suggestion for Jam to at least consider a CUT based on my tractor owning experiences on 1 acre and 2.5 acre lots. I think the others who made the same suggestion also based their recommendations on their own tractor owning experiences, and that's what TBN is all about - the sharing of advice and experience.

I'd buy based on the dealer, if the tractors were fairly similar. A good dealer makes a big difference . . . a common refrain here on TBN. Also, buy for what you are going to be doing most of the time. That sounds like mowing chores, and the subcompacts are designed for that.

One other thing. I noticed you planned on getting a ballast box. I suggest you consider a box blade instead. It serves the same purpose, and is VERY useful for grading roads and leveling dirt. The only downside is that it is slightly more bulky than a ballast box. I use my box blade all the time.

My bad, I missed that one. Can't disagree there. I mentioned it because I had a walk in customer about 2 days who thought he needed a L3130 when a BX made far more sence for his uses. He made a post on the internet and thought he needed such a large tractor because he had X acres.

Well, I bought the BX 2310 from a local (30+ miles) dealer and will hopefully get it Wednesday. The salesman was real nice as was the other people I encountered there. As for the tractor, it was love at first seat, er....uh, I mean sight. Here's the skinny:

BX 2230 with FEL, 54" deck (tight squeezes in my yard/garage), 48" rear blade for weight and practical purposes, turf tires, free delivery = $12,975

-$4500 (trade on JDGX)

=$8,475 (0% financing)
