LOL! No way! The only snow I saw in my entire life before moving to Vermont was when my sub surfaced at the North Pole! Actually, bobsled is something of an overstatement. I use anything that'll rocket down the hill...from inner tubes to those cheap plastic kid sleds. My neighbor clocked me by driving down the road; she says I hit 45mph on the straightaway...just before I was launched over the brush pile!

I'm green with envy, Pete. I love sledding, and we don't get enough snow to do much of it around here. It's about the only thing I'd change about where I live. Make a couple of runs for me, too, Pete!

Couple off years ago we had a 30cm. fall overnight and the next morning I saw a snowboarder go down the street. By the time I had a coffee and really woke up the grader had gone by and messed it all up.

Dang Pete, that sounds like fun. The nice thing about an inner tube is if you keep it on the bottom the landing is a little nicer.

Pete a friend of mine made one last year with his kioti....we were having trouble getting sleds/tubes because all the stores were sold out (had alot of snow last year) He would go out a sundown and spray it with the hose. Sledding is lots of fun. Who said something about growing up?!?! My wife asked me this morning if I was ever going to grow up and the laugh because she knows the answer already. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.....pete send some snow this way!!! We are getting usless cold rain...I hate it lets have a NOREASTER !!!!

Sounds like a blast. Maybe you could build a bobsled out of wood? We are getting our first snow (light) of the season, just enough to make it look like Christmas. Not enough to get the tractor out though. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Bobsled run advice needed

Can't play for now because of the Christmas Eve heat wave. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Temps in the low thirties and a very wet snow coming down. On the plus side, wet snow is easy to sculpt, and once cold weather returns it freezes into whatever shape you sculpted it into. But what to do?!?

The first curve (the one that redirects us away from sudden death on the log pile) has to be hit just right...just a brush against it, really...lest the sled be shot across the run and into the next curve (the one that redirects us away from being impaled on the brush pile) nose first. Of course, when that happens the sled rides up and over curve 2 like it's a snowboard tube. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif While this is certainly a lot of fun, the idea is to get around curve 2 and go all the way down the rest of the meadow before bailing out by the apple trees (so we aren't killed by impacting the birch trees at the property line).

I'm not sure if the solution is to make curve 2 gentler (use the chainsaw to cut a swath through the brush pile) or to bring in lots more snow and build up the banks of the curve. And if I build up the banks, what's the best way to put the proper curve into it?
