Bolt with "10" on the head

I need to replace some broken bolts on my tractor's front axle. They have a 10 on the head, not sure what that means. Any ideas?

Common to see metric bolts with numerical markings. What I pay more attention to is the grade of the bolt in hardness.

Curious why you have broken bolts?

You might want to visit with your dealer parts department concerning these bolts so you get the right grade.

Dealer went belly up a year after I bought the tractor.
There are 6 bolts, usually. Currently only 3. I guess some worked their way out? And others couldn't handle the strain.
There are no hardness markings that I can see.

Yes, there is no ". 9"

The tractor is a Mahindra, made by Mitsubishi, so this is probably correct.

Not knowing specifically the bolt's purpose, I'll go out on a limb and recommend Grade 8. Might take one with you to the store so you get the correct size and thread pitch.

That was my plan.
It holds the "down angled part" that the front wheel attaches to, to the main axle.

Oh yeah, definitely Grade 8.

Might be an area you will have to check often to make sure they don't back out again.

Or not knowing how many hours are on your machine, maybe they were never properly tightened??

Called it whatever you like. So since you know there isn't what do they call a hardened metric bolt? I believe that's what he needs. Enlighten us.

I found this showing equivalents:


US Grade 2 = approx metric property class 5.8
US Grade 5 = approx metric property class 8.8
US Grade 8= approx metric property class 10.9

But the Japanese have their own system, there are no pure 10 in std metric markings.
