The way I read the article, there was no slide of earth. It said the operator extended the backhoe, which caused the entire backhoe to slide forward. I read that to mean as he moved the bucket/boom, etc... against the dirt, the entire backhoe(tractor, if you will) slid (moved), causing the outrigger that was raised to pin the other man to the wall(a solid building, not a wall of earth).

The way I read it they were in tight quarters digging with only one outrigger down . Not a good anchor . Operator went to dig and the machine jerked backwards and pinched him. He was not in a very safe place to begin with , even worse in that situation .That is why I raise **** with people hanging around the backhoe when working . Kevin .

Anybody seen this warning label on a new lawn mower?

Yup! Didn't use to be on them but then, it happened when a guy had the bright idea to use his mower to trim his hedge. Makes drilling a hole in the wrong place child's play in the bonehead department, eh.
