boom bucket bushing??

Thanks for following up!!!! Great you got 'er done!!!

Cutting a bushing out with a torch is supposed to be safe because the interface between the bushing and the surrounding metal confines the burn to the bushing. But it takes a steady hand and courage, both of which you obviously have and I do not.

Now the sixty-four dollar question: Did new bushings fix the slop?

Oh it was a challenge. I now have to wear reading glasses under the shield, and not so steady with the hand lately..Actually. I dont know why I didn't "just do it" I think I overthought the whole thing.almost convincing myself i couldn't do it.
To answer the question. Im assuming so I am just now putting the arm back on but tested the pin in it and its 80 percent better. I could see two area that were worn down allot. Out of all the bushings this one was gone big time. It does really get all the force. .just wish I could say with confidence that the freezer part had an effect...LOL

Look up Speedglass cheater lenses. They come up to 3.0 diopter, which is what I use. If the came stronger, I'd have one.

I didn't have the luxury of bushings and had to find a way to bore the holes bigger to accept them. Took me a long time thinking about how to do it so I wouldn't screw up thousands of dollars worth of loader arms. That's not over thinking, it's just being cautious and prudent. You did the same, and look how well it turned out!

Things looked good in a trial fit after I got the new bushings and pins in place, but I was very relieved when it was all back together and the play was almost gone.

I did one bushing by freezing and all the others at room temp. I couldn't tell if the difference in force was due to temperature or just tolerance variations in the parts. Sure was glad I could get it all under a hydraulic press, but I think I'd have been OK with a big piece of all thread and an impact gun. Red Loctite was my "lubricant", and I know it's gonna take some heat to get those things to come back out.

I won't be so gun shy next time, but I'm hoping there won't be one because I'll be using a lot more grease from here on out. :muttering:

LOL on the grease.Me too. As I said the others didn't seem bad . I believe this machine was well lubed. I know the owner I got it from always greased it well. But not sure about the previous ones. There is allot less slop to it. In fact now Im considering the slop elsewhere.
I can see a change with the 16 inch wide bucket. i can only imagine how much there would have been with the 28 inch bucket on it..
