Hi Ray,
Odd you should ask. Just last night I used my boom pole to lift a 1300 lb. weigh off a buddy's trailer. I have a 500 lb. front blade instead of a FEL, and I have eight 40 lb. suitcase weights I can hook over the blade if I need to. It lifted it right up and we moved it and set it down gently on the ground.
Another time, a bud who races a stock car had crashed it pretty badly, and I hooked on with the boom pole, lifted the front end, and slowly and carefully pulled it out of his garage and all the way to his back yard.. then backed it into position where he wanted it. Again, no problems. You just go slow, and keep an eye on things, and if anything starts to go wrong you stop.
The only problem I had with the 1300 lb weight was that I forgot to set the valve for how fast or slow the 3pt hitch lowers.. based on the weight of the implement. Let it down a little quickly for the first couple feet.. but of course then caught it with the rockbar lever, and slowly eased it down the rest of the way. I should have cranked that valve up before lifting something that heavy.
I love it and think it's a very handy gizmo to have in your collection!
