Bought this flail mower

Takes a banded belt, don't think they're available thru NAPA. Got mine from a tractor dealer, might have been McGees. Parts diagram calls for size B57, but I found that to be too long. Have a B53 on mine, but there's enough take-up in the idler adjust to use a B54 inna pinch. Having said that, I'm assuming all 917s use the same belt. Check your specific parts diagram to be sure

Looks like you have it figured out, but just wanted to add some info., albeit late.
Definitely 917 or 917A. If bracket for gearbox that bolts to frame is Z-shaped, then 917. If U-shaped, then 917A. Gearbox was used on 907, 917, 917A and 917H. 917L had a square gearbox. 917H has a welded back skirt instead of bolted.
