Bob;

Knowing your fondness for Befco I thought I'd add my Befco Box Blade pic. Just like the RFM, the blade is heavy,strong and well built. Scarifer adjustment is easy with gloves and the scarifer locking pins are captured by verticle plates on both sides of the pin. My only complaint would be the need for more slope on the side plate lower edge to prevent it from riding on the material.

Merlin1 . . . I do like the Befco products a lot. On their box blades I like the fact that they reinforce the lower link pins all the way to the back of the blade and then reinforce those weld points along the top of the back. Befco doesn't do anything cheaply but they sure do it right. Thanks for the addition of the picture.

_RaT_ . . . I agree that there are going to be problems with any box blade, no matter how stout. A powerful tractor can demolish just about anything. Sounds like the work you do requires a SUPER heavy duty blade. Most of the manufacturers offer a couple grades of blades and now there are even Sub-CUT box blades on the super-light end of the scale.

Pete . . . thanks for the pictures. I've not seen that brand blade before.

Bob, You'd be in horror to see how I have to adjust the scarifiers on my low budget 60" LMC box blade. Takes 2 wrenches or 2 rachets/sockets combination. But then again, I use it once a year or so and it was $250 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
But LMC is making them with pins/clips similar to the Midwest now. AND they're about $100 more now too.

Geez Jerry, that would be a nightmare for me. I drop my hydraulic rippers, rip, cross rip, lift the rippers, cut, rip, cut, rip etc. After having hydraulic rippers anything less would be tough, but I would gladly give them up if I had to make a decision between a hydraulic top link or a manual. First and foremost is a hydraulic top link for me anyway. .

I didn't realize it either until I saw your post. Then I looked in my operator's manual that has Frontier on the first 14 pages and when it gets to the appendix and the warranty info, Woods is everywhere. Even the warranty registration card is from Woods. Oh and for sake of conversation the part that you drew a great picture of is reffered to in the parts manual as a lock rod. Would post a couple of pics but it's raining cats and dogs here.

Another option, which gives the ability to perform three different functions are the rollover box blades. Pulling a lever on the top allows the unit to provide cutting edge, flip it over and it provide a drag or can be used to backfill, and third position you get the scarifier shanks for ripping. I have used this form of box blade for numerous tasks and add the tilt on the 3pt, you can do just about anything from the seat of your tractor. Bush Hog makes a 60, 65, & 72 inch. Weight 630, 680 and 710. Check them out. I have a Gannon, but bent it and still looking for a new one.

I have the 72" version of the same box blade or box grader as I call them. I have had dirt and rocks rolling out the top and packed in front of the blade and never bent or broke anything. Very satisfied with it. Good price too.

Great photos of the Land Price box blade.

I had not seen a "15" series box blade in person. That is their lighter duty series. It appears that the 15 series is a nice basic blade. I'm familiar with the "25" series box blades, they have the captured lower link pins with reinforcement that extends to the back of the box, as well as a heavier A frame assembly.

I know they make 2 or 3 series of box blades, plus they also make 1 or 2 heavy duty series with retractable teeth. Many of the brands have various duty levels like Land Pride.
