Box blade prices

I was calling around the other day for a 6 foot box blade. I got a range of prices, and was curious if these were good deals, or just high prices. I got a price of 495 for a King Kutter, 575 for a frontier, and 595 for a land pride 6 foot blade. Is there any other brands that are good and are fairly reasonable that Im missing? I like the frontier because of the imatch for my 4710, but for 100 dollars less, i might be willing to make another brand work with imatch. Thanks.

Re: Box blade prices

The King Kutter price seems a bit high. I bought a 60 inch at TSC last year for $325. (don't know if the 72's are that much more expensive or ??)

Have a good one,
Dave

Aric,
Don't know where you got the KK price, but it's way out of line compared to our local Tractor Supply Store. The TSC web site shows the 6' KK box blade priced at $315.18. If you can't find a KK for less than $495, I'd pay the extra hundred and get the Landpride (assuming that price is for their 25 series and not the lighter weight 15 series).

Re: Box blade prices

Weight is critical to the selection of the right box blade. As long as it's not too heavy for your tractor, a heavier box blade will get the job done better and faster. Divide the weight into the price to get the price per pound. It might surprise you.

Width is important as well. You want one wide enough to cover the tracks left by your rear wheels.

Re: Box blade prices

Check out the Bush Hog brand. I liked the looks of it more the the KK. I just picked up the 5' SBX60, paid $490.00. Weight comes it at 490lbs.

Should be mandatory equipment with a tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Box blade prices

Prices here are: $565 for a 6' BushHog SBX, $499 for the 5'.
Hawkline 5' for $384.
TSC 5' for $340 or so.
Massey Ferguson 5' for $585 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif This dealer told me that a LandPride would be double that. I betchya he wonders why I never buy anything from him.

I like the Bush Hog line the best. Seems to be the some of the heaviest on the market, which translates into thicker steel and heavier constrution.

Re: Box blade prices

I have the 72" KK and paid around $320 for it. I am very happy with it so far. It does a good job smoothing and is extremely heavy when filled with dirt. I haven't tried it with the rippers down yet.

My only real complaint about the KK is it came with no assembly instructions at all. It is put together wrong for shipping purposes. I took it apart and put it back together slightly wrong the first time... then had to redo it. Wouldn't have been an issue if I had instructions.

It is great for the price... I would get something else if I had to pay $500 for it though. You can get some nicer better built heavier boxblades for that price.

Zuiko another TBN member was kind enough to tell me that KK has an on-line PDF Library. It most likely will have instructions in case you still don't have them. click here

Re: Box blade prices

Stick with the Frontier. I have the BB1172 and although the price was more than others, I have never been disappointed.

Re: Box blade prices

Can I ask you what you paid for it? I got a quote for the frontier of 725 today. That seems really high.
