Breaking in new plow

All I do anymore is just turn peoples gardens for them, But man growing up we farmed a little over 300 acres with a Farmall Super C and a 70 John Deere. I sure loved rolling that sod over. In the spring time it was fun standing up on that 70's platform and watching the varmits run/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have a model 81-14 which is a larger plow. 14" with a coulter. I'll get a picture later on and post it.

I have more questions than answers so forgive me.

How was the plow setup - kinda easy or a bit of pain?

How was the actual plowing with the tractor? Seems like the soil you were working was freeable.

I had more questions and they have escaped me. I lost them when the line dropped. Don'tcha just like modern technologies.... /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Mine is the Lienbach #19 which is a 1-12.

After mounting it on the 3pt it was just as matter of centering and off to plowing/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But if I hadnt moved my wheels in last summer i would of had to do it to make sure the plow fell to just the inside of the rear tire.

The plowing was great but with all the rocks up here I dont think the tractor would of handled a 1-14. Man I didnt realize how big some of them rocks was till after we got that much needed rain/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I am in the market for a boxblade. My dealer carries the Lienbach line, and specifically the united mfg line.

Do you have a better pic or could tell me more about it. It is quite a bit cheaper, 6' for $400 (no idea what model) as opposed to a LandPride 5'6" for $635/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif. Is it solid, well made? Thick metal? Does the 448 indicate 4' wide? I have no problem buying one, but my dealer does not stock them, and I would rather not lay out $400 without eyeballing it.

I have passed through Front Royal multiple times, pretty country, wouldn't mind seeing it during leaf changing, but not willing to brave all the DC tourists doing same. Especially when I'd be on a Goldwing!

Nick, you're right; beautiful country. And we were traveling in a 40' motorhome towing a small pickup at the time. I'd heard and read of the heavy traffic, steep hills, etc. so not recommended for large RVs. Well, we left the motorhome in an RV park at the south end and drove up the Skyline Drive in the little pickup on 7/8/92. And at that time of year, there was almost no traffic and would have been a very easy drive in the motorhome towing the pickup./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

So far its holding up really good. Its is 4' wide and has HD after it and Im assuming that means heavy duty. He had the Woods and Befco there to to do a side by side comparison. To me the Woods looked the strongest with the Befco 2nd and then the lienbach, really nothing fancy. But the price got me here, my lienbach was $300.00 + tax the others quite a bit more. There were no landprides to compare. And I really dont have enough HP to really tear it up. It would be better if he had one there you could compare. If you like I can email you a couple more pics when I get home.

Nick, The best time to come and see the leaves is on Mon/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif cause that is when everyone else is back at work and you pretty much have the whole drive to your self /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Drop me an email if your ever going to be in the area and stop in. Dont be scared of that rather large guy on the tractor.

Bird, Everyone comes here on the weekends in the fall but if they wait till the work week there isnt any people here. But let me tell you, we dont even leave the house cause of the traffic in the fall or if we do its in the opposite direction/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif We live about 6 miles out side of town.

Wal, I told my wife I really didnt need the ballast/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif but she insisted.

If you can easily shoot some pics, that'd be great. I would love to be able to compare them like you could. I think my dealer has a better profit margin on the LP brand, he sure pushes them. Some idea of material thickness would be great, for the box and the 3pt A-frame.

Even the cheaper LP (15 series) blade is $129 more for 1 FOOT LESS than the united. The $635 is for the 25 series, beefier A frame apparently, than the 15 series. Same dealer told BMW (Mark Beemer) that the boxes were identical on the 2 series. I probably can't pull a 6', so it is likely I could get a 60-66" for even less than $400. If you like yours, it sure seems like a better deal than paying for an LP.

If I decide to buy after warm biking weather, I might take you up on stopping in just to eyeball your boxblade/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.
