Problem: When turning the key to get the glow plugs going, your check engine light will come on, but not consistently, and tractor still starts with some wiggling of things. This signifies an issue with your stop light switch assembly. It needs to register the brake being pushed down, to get a clean start from the tractor. If it doesn't get that, it will flash your check engine and not turn over without some fiddling.

Solution:Mahindra Stop Light Switch/Assy replacement switch. PART NUMBER: 15186213200

it was a few dollars cheaper at my dealer, and came within a week
Tools needed:
12mm socket (1, preferably longer, but doesn't need to be crazy long)
3/4 wrench or adjustable (2)
Dielectric Grease
Bungie cord
------------------------------------------------

The biggest issue I had with this job was finding the old switch in the first place. My dealer parts guy didn't seem to really know, or didn't want to spill the beans. There was nothing online for a tractor replacement, and I have never done something like this. After looking over the engine, I couldn't see a good place and I started looking at the cab. The switch is in the cab, right in front of your brake pedal.

You need to remove the 12mm black bolts all around the plastic trim. Do not forget the ones below and on top the steering wheel, I think there are 6-8 bolts total. You can gently pull the plastic away at this point to access the switch. Your red emergency brake lever, will stop the plastic from coming all the way off. I recommend using a bungie cord to hold it away from the area. I attached mine through a bolt hole, and the other end around the shifter.

I first pulled the electrical connections apart by holding the top steading and pulling down where they connect. It came apart relatively easily, but just be careful you aren't ripping the wires in a way that could hurt them. After that, you need two adjustable wrenches, or two 3/4 inch wrenches, I recommend STUBBY ones. (A good set of pliers that can grip can work as well if you only have 1 wrench). Get a hold on the top or bottom nut, and remove.

I then got it put back together after putting some dielectric grease on the electrical fittings. I would pay attention to the clear rubber piece that goes on top, you can see in my photo how it was attached before I removed and replaced it I believe if you zoom in.

Thoughts: my old switch looks in pretty good shape, but the new switch solved the problem immediately. I think with some cleaning of this switch, it would work smoothly again. It wasn't completely failing me, just slowly getting worse and worse. I may spray some pb blaster down it in, and clean up the electrical connections for the future if this one goes bad as well. I am also going to attach a trouble shooting guide my dealer sent me that covers not really this, but basic start up issues and potential solutions.
