"I can't recall ever seeing a cow voluntarily stand on a hard rock surface."

Jim here is the one picture of the only cow that put all four feet on the rock, and that was only because I had a line of range cubes going over the bridge and you could tell she was feeling really uncomfortable and left about half of the range cubes. The others thought they would be smart and sneak around the back and started licking the range cube container. I finally gave up and gave them a pre-Christmas treat.

Don, I'm not sure that I'd be encouraging them to use the bridge. You know how cows are, sooner or later they are going to try to cross three or four at a time and there go the handrails. On second thoughts, that could lead to a remedial project get-to-gether and I might make that one. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don or Harvey,

I'm planning a project that I'll need to paint and was trying to figure out what the process was and the paint you used on the "Bridge" and the "Gate."

Thanks,
Eddie

Morning Eddie,

It's top secret. If we share the formula then we have to kill you.

But if it wasn't so top secret we'd tell you that it's half Rustoleum Rusty Primer and half Rustoleum Leather Brown mixed and applied in one coat. A second coat can follow without any problems.

Leather Brown is a little glossy and dark and the primer's too red and dull. But the two together comes off just about right. And the good thing is Rustoleum is sold everywhere and you can buy it in quarts and gallons.

Thanks Harvey,

Your secret formula is safe with me, I wont tell a soul.

Eddie, this should have been done by PM 'cos I read it and I'll tell everybody AND I'll blame you. Sorry pal, it's been nice knowing you but we'll think only good thoughts when you're gone. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Eddie, I just had a thought. As I remember it, you had lots of heads mounted on the wall of your shop. Since I don't want to join them I'll keep mum. You're safe .... and so am I. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Maybe we can get a moderator to delete the last five post. We can't let the secret get out. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I was thinking a lot of the makers of "The TBN Bridge" this weekend as I added safety chains to the bridge railing. I attached them to the convenient looped ends on the bridge and then to post I made in welding class last week. I tried to make something simple that would complement Harvey's unique design.

Closeup of post.

Oh, for those wondering I have not put the rock on the north side yet. The water has finally gone down enough so I can't use that as an excuse anymore. When I first went down the steps there was one big fat snake laying in the middle of the culvert. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I also noticed a few less frogs. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I did get in some seat time thanks to Lucy. - no more ruts to cross. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll bet you've got the fanciest bridge in the area; a large area at that. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Don,

I don't think you could ask for a nicer bridge.

Nice touch having those steps going down to the creek.

That really turned out nice! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Every time I see a picture of that little bridge it touches a warm spot in my heart. To me, it looks just like it belongs in Elfinwood, something magical.

Don you did good.

Miss Glenda asked me if we made ruts. Then the lights come on and she got this embarrassed look. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That was a fun project.

Most of what I do is fun. But every now and then I get a bonus. This project was kinda sorta like a ten year bonus.

Was that "big fat snake" like Bird's big fat bass he caught in my lake? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I haven't seen any snakes yet this year, but it's just a matter of time.

Don, the posts and chain look like they were made for each other. After showing me the link to the anchors, I was wondering if you had bought yourself some anchor chain. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Very nice!

When I moved the splash pans below the rain gutters on the patio covers Friday to mow, there were 3 or 4 little snakes under there; garter snakes I guess. We had several of them in the yard last year, too, but I've yet to see one much bigger than a pencil.

Jim, do I detect that you are perceiving a bit of exaggeration on the size of the snake? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I will have to get a picture I guess. And, Eddie Walker do not even think that all I saw was a big stick. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Last November 17th it was Shoppintractors that suggested the "Chain Idea". Thanks. It was one of his inspirational shower ideas. His Idea stuck in my head and then 5 months later when I went by the anchor place and saw the large chain, while I was taking the welding class, everything quickly came together. I guess this is proof now that showering and welding produce a creative product. (But of course Harvey has know this for a long time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
