Briefly running engine in garage

This topic is not nearly as serious as some here make it out to be. It's worth laughing at, IYAM.

Ignorance is bliss; enough said

I completely forgot they do make a zero emission (no smog, no carbon monoxide) tractor and have made it for many years, at least I think they still make them. Is Tonka still in business?

We need to pass this information on to those poor people who are living in the Ukraine, Syria and Venezuela. I'm pretty sure they are living in a state of bliss, not knowing this.

Yep, but not so much metal anymore. I miss those days riding my Tonka dump truck in the sand box as a kid. Oh and blowing up army men and matchbox cars with firecrackers. Those were the days!

"Oh and blowing up army men and matchbox cars with firecrackers".

Is that not what is causing all the worlds problems now? You forgot the BB guns..

As somebody that has been unconscious from acute CO poisoning and lived to tell about it, I don't worry about short term exposure.

You know that black stuff that gets on your steak after you barbecue it? That is carcinogenic and people probably die every year from eating it. The only people who are safe are vegetarians. Shouldn't we be focusing on that as well? Because, like backing your car out of the garage, that is some serious stuff. Please don't make jokes about it. Barbecuing is a hazardous activity and if you don't see that, then you are - fill in condescending term here.

Yikes... you are right! A little to close to reality now and my previous post was not thoughtful. Sand, IEDs... I sincerely apologize and am embarrassed for any reference to our brave men and women of the armed forces that secure our freedoms!!! :medalofhonor:

Hi Mike... I guess I missed the 'insult' in my reading and following of this thread. While I definitely agree that this is a serious topic and we can learn from many of the comments here, I don't see anything wrong with a little levity as long as it is not a personal attack. If we didn't joke and laugh a little, it would be a pretty boring place in my mind.

The posts containing insults were removed.

To live in a state of Bliss and not know it should be a crime. Punishable by Death in a Gas Chamber.

Post #51 contains the only insult I've seen and it is still there, not surprisingly. You have to wade thru all the verbiage to find it so most people wont notice.

My post and several others were removed and none of them bore insults. They only pointed to #51 which calls out fellow posters as being "stupid". Go figure, I've stopped trying.

It's not an insult to say that making jokes about a gas that takes innocent lives is just plain stupid. There were plenty of posts that needed to be removed and were, mine wasn't one of them. So if you've stopped trying to figure it out why are you still talking about it instead of the actual topic of the thread, 21 posts later?:confused2:

I didn't bring it up, someone else did. I'm explaining the sequence of events for them.

So is it ok then to say that ranting about imaginary risk taking is stupid? I wouldn't be so crass...

You're explaining it for them? Ok, whatever.
" Imaginary risk taking...."? I think not; and herein lies the problem with those who poo poo the facts of CO exposure. You don't want to take it seriously, fine, it's your life. I wouldn't try to persuade others that taking CO seriously is something to be made fun of. Why ask me if you're statement is appropriate? You know it isn't, and you are being crass, by making it. It doesn't hurt me any, I don't accuse rational people who take serious subjects at face value of ranting about imaginary risks.

Is it not possible to take something seriously and also joke a little? Must it be binary?

Must it be binary?

Nope, just one of the mysteries of Internet discussion forums, along with;

(1) Why do people care what strangers on the Internet think of them or their opinion.
(2) Why do people think that posting the same thing over and over again will change someone elses mind?

Analog is long gone.

I've learned a lot about CO2 sources/levels/monitoring that I didn't know, that is good. And Mr. Squeezer's whimsical posts on possible implications made me laugh, also good. Exchanging different viewpoints to arrive at improved understanding is normal.
