Close the gas valve and remove the gas line from the carb. Open the valve and see if you have flow. If you do not, then there is probably crud built up in the bottom of the tank that is blocking flow. If that is the case, you will want to remove the tank and clean it out good. Glad to hear you got the 8n back in service. I still want to know which one you like better when they are both going.

The competition is almost ready to commence... 8N vs 640 ;)

Napa may or may not have the correct valve.. however your local cnh dealer will.. tsc usually does, as well as some online dealers.. If yours is the 2-screw kind anyway. if you have a very early 55 it may still have the naa style tank and screw in tap... if so.. it's a pipe thread fitting and you can fit lots of different fuel taps int here..e tc.

Took it for a spin around the farm and I think all is well.

Just a few questions left...

Will Napa have the replacement fuel tank petcock to fix that leak?

And the radiator never got a good rush of coolant in the radiator but it always
ran cool. About 1/3 of the gauge. Is that normal for this tractor? My 8N rocks pretty hard in the radiator...

Boy... I'm almost ready to put this thing in service!

Forgot to mention.. all my 00/01 tractors with 134 / 172 engines run about middle o the scale for temp.

What is cnh?? tsc is tractor supply??

CNH = Case New Holland. The corporation that now services the legacy parts for the old 'ford' after it had went thru 'new holland'.. and a couple other buyouts.. etc.

update...
I rewired the back 1/2 of the tractor and the short I was experiencing
cleared up. There was a switch on the rear implement lamp so that
is indeed where the hot / unswitched wire must have been heading.

I'm going to pull the gas tank and really have it cleaned out. That 20 year
old gas goo at the bottom keeps breaking off and clogging my carb.

I'm well on the way to having a working tractor. The motor sounds great.
