Not sure why you would want to buy expensive tool to use maybe 2-3 time in lifetime when "master links" are cheap and used in thousands of applications over many many many years without a problem....

Back when I was motorcycle racing we would do it all the time. The metal clip on the master link would wear and break. Nothing like being miles from your truck doing a hare scramble and having to push your bike back because your master link filed. I don't see anything that should rub on the master and I have the clip on the opposite side as the auger so I'm going to leave it.
I don't know what you were doing, but I have raced cross country and trail road dirt bikes almost weekly for 45 years and never once had a master link clip come off, or wear and break. In addition I probably have in excess of a million miles on road bikes and never had a problem with the master link. I have indeed experienced a few (very few) chain drive failures, but it was never due to the master link.
Most new road bikes come with riveted master links. Unless you have over 100 hp and are using of it all frequently, you really don't need a riveted master link. A removable link with a clip will work just fine. Just be sure to install the clip with the open end not facing the direction of chain travel.

Use common connector or offset links using cotter pins or clips to retain. There are two sizes of chain tools similar to the one you pictured.
