I was shredding yesterday when a tree jumped out and bit my left mirror on my 4940C. It broke the curve glass but the rest was OK.
The dealer's in my area are all gone. Some got out of the business and others switched to other brands.
Any suggestions on replacements?
The rear window shattered a couple of years ago and I'd like to replace it as well if I can get one at the right price. Currently I have a plexiglas one but it won't support the hydraulic cylinders so I can't open it.

Thanks in advance.
Glenn.

Just go to your local glass shop. He should be able to cut replacements for both. The mirror will be flat and not curved, and the glass will be laminated. If you want tempered it will cost more and take longer. Should be a whole lot cheaper then having any dealer replace them.

I've replaced both side mirrors and ordered replacements directly from Montana with no problems. My neighbor borrowed my 5740C to mow her place and trees got the best of her. At this point though, I don't have either mirror on and don't miss them one bit.

Call Montana

They should be able to send you a replacement.

Unclebuck how much were the mirrors, both of the adjustment bolts have been broken off ours by some moron (me) over tightening. I have removed the arms and everything and I think I like it not worrying about branches but always wondered what they will cost me eventually to replace. Thanks

Brent,

I'm not sure exactly how much they were. The neighbor that broke them off initially insisted that she handle the entire replacement directly with my then Montana dealer. The neighbor then called the dealer and took care of payment and then had them shipped directly to me. I realized during the time I was waiting for them to come in that I really didn't use them and didn't miss them, so that the second time they broke off, I just said the heck with it and went on my merry way. I still don't miss them at all, and it's been a couple of years now since I had any.

I dont really miss them as well. In fact it is nice not having to worry about them.

I have a 4940C also. I took my side mirrors off the first day and I still have them. I don't think I'll ever use them again. I would sell them to you if you want them.

Thanks for the offer. I'm thinking about rigging up a branch cutter off the brackets on sides of the cab like helicopters have for cutting wires. The brackets used to "guide" the branches out of the way, now they almost catch up under the cab. So far this year has been too wet to get anywhere close to the trees around me anyway

Update on the mirror.
I went to the only Montana dealer left around here. He's in Bullard. He's had a lot of trouble getting mirrors and most of the tractors I saw in his yard suffered the same problem as mine or worst. Tree branches in East Texas are tough on mirrors.
I took the mirror to a local glass shop and they put a new one in for $25.00. It's not nicely curved but it works. I also went to the local O'Reilly's and bought a compound mirror to stick on it as well. Works great.

Texasgreen, send me a pm as to what you'd consider for the ones you would sell please.

The dealer in Bullard has a lot of parts on back order from Montana. Apparently, glass is a big one. The LS dealer locally is in the same boat though with back ordered glass. Seems to be a problem of supply from Korea.

So, the plexiglass insert has to stay for a while until the glass rear window arrives.
