. But it does seem to me they could design the 3 point to not make contact with anything above it, ya know? Like I said before, it has hit a tool box and now a window. What's next? The back of my head? hahaha Just kiddin'! I love this tractor and all NH"s I've ever been on. Wouldn't have any other!

Obviously that would be impossible given the wide variety of things which can be attached. In my line of work we call this type of accident "cockpit error".

Sorry about your accident. Glad you have insurance.

Known in my corner of NY as "operator failure". Best way to lose tractor cab glass is to operate the tractor with windows and/or doors open.

Your picture is kind of blurry but from the looks of it the top of the sprayer would be the only thing that could have hit your window. The chip on the top link could have been from something before or from the glass falling. I know on my sprayer the sprayer controls are up higher then where the top link hooks on and it looks like yours is quite similar.

On the bright side, you are not the first person who has made a mistake and broke a cab window on a tractor. Just be glad you didn't forget your cab door was open as you backed out of a barn :)

That looks like a Ag-Spray sprayer you have there. If so it was probably the
pressure gauge, the pressure regulator or boom shutoff vavle that hit your window. I have one of their sprayers and those components stick up
quite a way from where the top link attachs to the sprayer frame.

Only thing I would clarify here is that the pic is not blurry... quite clear really... the lighting stinks though...lol

I'd have to agree that CNH needs to spend a bit more time reviewing their designs and products. Maybe I could understand the open window issue, but if it was the top link that broke the glass, that is something CNH should have designed around.

I know they do miss little things - on my little sub DX24E, I dented in the rear fender with the top link once - wasn't paying attention, raised it up all the way - the link was retracted about as far as I could get it , and it crunched the fender good. Yes, it was partly my fault, but the CNH engineers should have done a better job with the design, since both the fender and the toplink were factory installed CNH equipment that I had not modified.

There are a number of other little things on my machine that cause me to question the overall abilities of CNH engineers, and wonder how many of them actually have spent any time on the machines they design. Maybe they do a better job with the bigger machines, and although I like my machine (it sure beats doing it by hand), when it comes time to upgrade, I'm going to have to give another brand a shot.

Of course, it seems that all of the manufacturers have more and more problems with each newer model, something that comes from trying to cut costs. Heck, Kubota put out a new BX to give all the competition an even bigger run for their money, and then they do something stupid like change the fender/platform to plastic. There's no way that the way I climb on and off my metal platform, it'd hold up at all if it was plastic.

Not that I'm defending the NH eng's.. ( cause they DO pull some fast ones.. like running wires and hoses in areas that they SHOULD KNOW they are gonna get snagged! ).. but could also be 'value engineering'.. Ie.. THE ACCOUNTANT TOLD THE MANAGER THAT THEY COULD SAVE A HALF CENT ON THAT TRACTOR BY REALLY BOTCHING UP SOME CERTAIN ASPECT OF IT.. YET PEOPLE WOuLD STILL BUY IT.. ETC.

it's typical for management to let accountants screw up work done by otherwise well meaning engineers in the name of the bottom line..

For the type of problems we are talking about here, I do not blame NH engineers one bit. You cannot design for all possible combinations of attachments, arm lengths etc. Any of my backhoes on my machines over the years could rip a tire off the machine or bend a rim with its's bucket if I wanted it to. Would I have wanted them to limit it's range and usefullness to prevent this. Absolutely not. If I wanted a limited capability machine I would buy a homeowner model. You just need to pay attention when operating. Should a saw be designed with no teeth so you can't cut yourself. That's just about as silly as to blame the machne for these problems of broken glass or bent fenders.
