Broke tilt cylinder rod and bent the other

So, just for the record. How big a tractor is this? HP and weight? And it had a backhoe mounted? What was the lifting capacity of the loader?

There is so much "I have a 5750" on here, and they don't even say what make, you only may see what forum they posted to to get an idea, so it is often difficult get any real feeling for what they are refering to.

If you read the first post by the OP, it would be obvious. He only has one tractor listed in his profile and this is Mahindra topic. But I agree that there are times when the make and model are helpful in threads that aren't machine specific such as Hydraulics, etc.

Don't know how the duplicate post occurred.

My tractor is a Mahindra 3016 with backhoe. 28 HP. Aprox 4500 lbs with the backhoe mounted. Lift to full height at pin 1650 lbs.

The brand is not relevant, it is a physics thing. Yes I back drag with my 4025, but it is at low angles and almost always in float and I have not bent anything as of yet. It 's weight is about 6000 with the loader, plus what ever is on the 3 point at the time. If I wanted I could easily bend them, it's the fully extended position that makes the problem multiply. It's just easier to bend a long rod than a short one.

Well I have certainly been giving the 3016 a workout lately as I have been clearing forest to allow for space to build a new garage. After 2 hours digging out an ash stump with the backhoe it finally came free. The backhoe wasn't powerful enough to pull the stump out of the hole so I tried with the front end loader which was equipped with my grapple. While trying to pull it out, I heard a loud noise (sounded like a gunshot) and then hydraulic fluid started spaying. I turned off the tractor and found that the tilt cylinder rod on the left side was broken in half and the cylinder rod on the right side was bent.

Expensive mishap.....$1,040.00 CDN for two new cylinders.

Sorry for your loss, but thanks for the reminder and information. I have a grapple as well and sometimes back drag while extricating roots. Will need to make darn sure and not tilt the grapple down too much... There is even more leverage with the grapple than with the bucket due to the longer bottom of the grapple. Sometimes I forget that when getting excited.

Add me to the list!

Is it a tractor? truck? Mower? or maybe an ATV..

I'm with you in this point. Sometimes it gets frustrating.

In this thread why does the tractor even matter? You might try to start a brand war, but it would have happened to any machine. Since there's only one tractor listed in his profile I'd guess that's the one he broke. How many of you complaining even looked at his profile?

I suspect that those of us that made that comment simply used the opportunity of referring to a generality that is all to prevalent on TBN.
Personally I have often gone back to the 1st post simply to attempt to determine what machine being discussed and often pass as I don't want to be off topic. (LOL which I am at this point)
