Broke tilt cylinder rod and bent the other

Well the new cylinders are on and the tractor is back up and running. I got back to clearing land over the weekend.

This was a costly error on my part and guaranteed I will never make that mistake again. When I was an apprentice elevator mechanic 30 years ago...my journeyman once said to me, "your knowledge of elevators is directly proportional to the amount of **** that you have blown up". I believe that there is a lot of truth in that statement.

If I was ever to lose another cylinder for whatever reason, I can't see myself purchasing from the dealer. When I originally phoned them for pricing...I wrote the price down that I was quoted. On Friday when I went to pick them up, they charged me considerably more. I protested and their excuse was that I had ordered it from one of their summer students and he must have quoted me the wrong price.....I argued that I didn't see how that should be my problem. It has left a really bad taste in my mouth.

At best, it's bad business practice. At worst, it's a lack of empathy for your customers. Seems to be common in Canadian Customer Service.

Could be worse. I was walking along the main street in town and one of the merchants had some old photos hanging in the window of life around town many years ago. What these guys would have given for a nice powerful tractor.

It has held up perfectly.

As far as the old picture, maybe the horses would have appreciated it more. There are guys around that still only log with horses. It's much more environmentally friendly.

My grand dad had draft horses that he used to work his fields and drag logs. I've been with him many times. He'd let me drive the wagon and I'd get a real bang out of it. I was too young and small to do anything else but driving the wagon was still a lot of fun for a kid. He taught me all that Gee and Haw stuff, although it was only a two horse team. Still those two horses had a lot of pulling power between them.

All grandparent's mission in life is to spoil their grandkids rotten so as to get even with their kids for all the crap they put them though. LOL
