Only 3 for me counting the brake drum lathe and the Southbend and a very small miniature lathe given to me…
Time marches on and for the most part the machine tools and tooling sit idle except for a random repair.
At one time I rebuilt Model A water pumps with modern components keeping the stock appearance machining my own 316 and monel pump shafts and sold them worldwide in limited numbers through the Model A Ford Club.
Broken bolts on antique rust buckets often the norm so learning how not to break them and being able to remove is a necessary skill…
My neighbor was a master mechanic and welder who became a industrial gas plant super…
When I had a restoration problem without a solution in my teen years I would keep the garage door up and wait for him to come home after work and he always had the solution…
Fortunate to have a lot of mentors willing to share knowledge with a kid just for asking.
Not sure that exists anymore around here anymore…
