I own a JDx340 mower. I don't know if I'm using the correct terminology here but the pivot bolt which attaches the tension bar to the deck broke. The tension bar is what keeps the mower belt tight. I've had it welded a couple of times but it doesn't hold up well. The tension bar is attached to the deck at its elbow and it has to move freely so that you can release it to remove the belt. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it. I'm not interested in taking it to the dealer to fix since they'll charge me $$$. The mower is out of warranty I believe. Thanks.

Welcome to TBN..

Is it the pivot bolt or the tension bracket that is broke. If it is the pivot bolt, is it welded to the deck or a replaceable unit. If it is replaceable just get another from your JD dealer. If not you'll have to get it welded back in place.
I had a different model JD riding mower that the mower deck belt tensioner bracket itself broke. I removed the bracket and re welded it back together and re installed it. A few years later I sold the tractor and the bracket was still holding.
