Brush hog blade sharpening

I have a brush hog mower I got with used tractor a few years back. One blade was bent pretty good, which I have since straightened to an acceptable degree. My question is on sharpening blades. I tried to sharpen when I took bent blade off to straighten. They were pretty well beat up. I just removed the dings at that point.
Is there a specific technique and/or angle I need to use when sharpening?

yes. get new blades, & sharpen existing best you can as back up. i clamp blades to a surface & use angle grinder, like lawn mower blades, no need for real sharp edge.
i would never consider crawling under a bush hog with a grinder.
but you do need new blades

also: i understand most of the cutting occurs on 2"+ from the tip of the blade, so that's the crucial part to sharpen. unfortunately, that's where the edge rounds out as well. good luck, & assume you support your bush hog on blocks when removing the blades, etc.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if they were to be sharpened a single angle like lawn mower blade. To remove blades, I park tractor on flat surface at edge of hill. with 3ph down, I have more than enough room to crawl under, and be comfortable removing blades, to be sharpened in vise.

Used to sharpen blades while still on bushhog. Take front end loader , flip on its side and strap to a tree. Purchased extra set of blades. Now pull off dull blades with battery impact, swap out sharp blades. Sharpen dull ones and next spring install sharp blades. So much easier this way. YMMV

Post a photo of the blades, mine were worn down to a point so I needed to replace mine.

Comment above, the mower is NOT attached to the tractor, you use the FEL to lift and lean the mower against the tree.

I just brace mine up with 4x4 while still attached to mower.

with a well designed bush hog, a good impact wrench is the only way to go.
i always remove blades for service. plus it keeps the nuts/bolts in serviceable condition every several yrs, best regards

I remove the blades - in a vice - hit them with an angle grinder.

I sharpen mine while mounted with a mini grinder and flap discs.
