Bucket forks

Thought I'd post a few pics of my newly constructed bucket forks. Material of construction is 2 x 2 square tube, 1/4" thick. The clamp is a nut & bolt from MJ pipe fitting for 10" pipe. Only problem I see is a little more "flex" in the bucket than I'd like when loading the forks.

Forks look good.

I'm curious though, do they move easy? If you bump one on the side of a pallet for example. Do you have go turn it back straight again?

You found the weakness in the design. Yes, the forks do tend to rotate on the bolt clamp. It hasn't affected me too badly yet, but I'm looking into fixing the problem. I think adding another clamp bolt to each fork would dramatically reduce the fork's tendency to rotate.

My dealer wants $795 for pallet forks w/quick attach for my Woods 1016 loader. Seems pretty spendy. Bucket forks are looking better all the time.

Maybe a piece of box tubing between the forks would help. Heres the idea. Weld a couple pieces square tube on the forks as receivers out past the bucket 6-12"(?). Then have a couple different lenghts of tube to space the forks narrow or wide. Drill a couple holes for pins to hold it together.

But then is it a big enough issue to worry about?

Great idea. I'll be looking real closely at that option. I must say that these bucket forks can't really be compared to a set of quick-attach forks, because of the limitation of the bucket itsself. What I'm trying to say is that I'd be afraid to lift anything too heavy with my set-up because the bucket will likely bend. I think with the quick-attach forks, your back tires would probably come off the ground before you damaged the forks.

Bucket limitation Yes You have the same bucket that came on my DK35. It ain' t much. I will post some pictures after I redesign it and BEEF it up. Wider cutting edge--2"square tubing for a back bone-- 1/4" side cutting edges and of course hooks. bcs

Ahh! Looks just like the design that I cut out the parts for a couple weeks ago and haven't welded yet.
At least I know I'm on a good track. I have - or will have - two bolts on each fork.
