Build a pressure washer?

Only stuff I know about lead paint is what I've seen on TV "home improvement" type shows. Always seemed like a pain to deal with (respirators, permits, etc.)

Found a "lead test kit" out on the web - not sure if it's any good or not, but you might consider a "do it yourself" kit just for "peace of mind."

Hey, I just picked up a Campbell Hausfeld 1300 PSI 1.6 GPM pressure washer at Walmart for about $90. Very nice! I just tried it out, and it does everything I had hoped for. It shuts off automatically the second you take your finger off the trigger, which seems like a good idea given what I've read here about burning them out by letting them run for a while.

Honest answer time now: how many of you have stuck your finger in front of your pressure washer just to see how powerful the stream feels?? /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif Good thing mine is "only" 1300 PSI or I would have probably amputated my finger. As it is, all I needed was a bandaid! Does this qualify for the dumbest thing anyone has ever done?? /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif Please, someone tell me they did this too! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Your a hoot./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Yeah I did that with an old electric from about a foot away with a spray not a stream, still stung alittle though.

Sorry, Bob... Zigmond York was nobody special. That was the name of the farmer that I workled for as a kid. York's Fruit Farm in Milford, CT. He loved what he did. He loved his trees. He just enjoyed farming. Too bad his kids were only interested in the $$$ the land was worth after he passed. I remember the smell of bacon every morning.. ... and the two-holer in the back yard.

Hi Bob, I took a 30 gallon steel barrel cut a 8 inch hole in the center of one end mounted a verticle shaft 5 hp Briggs engine on the top of the barrel. On the shaft of the engine I mounted a sump pump you put in your basement. Talk about pressure shot water about 70 feet. Worked great for spraying the corn field.

I don't ever seem to recall puttin' my hand in front of a pressure washer and I have never used anything stronger than a pump garden sprayer on my cats.I did have a dog that loved goin' to the car wash ( not the drive through type.....). I'd start singing the jingle..."TurtleDog for that hard fur finish...TurtleDog!" and he'd take off a runnin' for the truck bed.My current dog has never had the pleasure since I now own a Blazer.Smell of wet dog would linger for YEARS!!! He does like the leaf blower.
and the throb of a Gravely exhaust.Park those tractors side by side and he gets right in between them,grinning like a fool.....could be the fumes........

Many years ago while cleaning my car at the 'quarter' car wash, I used my fingers to get some particularly stubborn dirt off the top of the fender. Had the wand too close and it layed my thumb meat open almost to the bone! Yikes!
