I need to build a bridge over a creek on my deer lease. the creek is about 50 feet across and the bridge needs to only hold up ATV's. All otpions are open although I would like the most cost effective way. I need to elevate the bridge maybe 3 feet or so over the water to keep debris from building up against the bridge.

Lots of questions.

Do you have bankings more than 3' tall or are you going up only in the middle? Is the water 50' across, or is it just the high water mark? How much work are you going to involve & how long is thing supposed to last? Is the water fast moving? does it flood in the spring? Freeze in the winter? How long is this lease? 60-70 self supported is gonna be interesting. Can you use pilings?

want some more questions?

I go to a golf course near by that uses old tractor trailer flat beds. The take off the axles and lay them accross.

That sounds like the perfect solution in this case too...........

I have seen flat bed trailers and flat bed railroad cars for sale in the heavy equipment trade mags. The ones I've seen have been disassembled (wheels off) and are advertised as good for bridges. I need one too, but I imagine the cost of moving one is quite high.

Find a old house trailer frame. They also work well.

I went by a manufactured home factory today. They had a couple of naked frames sitting out front. They didn't look like they could even hold up the house.

Do a search on this subject. It was discussed very heavily a few months back. General consensus - house trailer frames are not adequate.

I thought about building a few bridges I figured maybe old telephone poles would work?? then you could lay your decking down...
