Got the rafters up. Should sheet and shingle the roof by the end of the week.

7' under the cross braces. Plenty of room for storage and to move around up there. I will eventually insulate and finish up there and maybe set it up as a bunkhouse in the event of grandkids!

Started shingling the roof. Gonna try and get the electric roughed in next week.

Always exciting to see the shingles go up!!! Whey didn't they finish the gable ends of your walls first? Do you get much moisture there? Fascia rot is something that I replace a lot for clients and should be of a material other then pine. Cedar used to be the standard, but now it's either Hardie or PVC. I wouldn't use anything other then those two things because of all the maintenance involved in protecting the fascia boards if they are anything else. Putting up the shingles first makes it very hard to get the flashing over the fascia boards. I'm at a loss on how you are going to do this now that they are in place?

Facia boards went up before roof, right? Just not the metal facia flashing? Is that wha' ye're asking?

Because of the steepness, the gables are gonna be framed in after the roof is secure. I'll be covering the fascia with aluminum and installing soffit.

I hate framing gables in the air. To me it takes up to much time. Those would of been framed laying down on the ground with the rest of the wall. But its tough to do unless you have wall jacks. Looking good :thumbsup:

I've never used aluminum on a house and don't know how to install it. I'll be interested to see how you do this. Thanks.

A little side project to go with the barn. Since I'm not putting running water in and the house is a good ways away and up the hill, I thought I might need myself a privy. Since it is probably gonna be just me and it will be only occasional use, it will take years and years before it ever needs to have any attention. I hope to have it finished by this weekend.
