on our farm the previous owner already built some pallet dollies with the same size wheels you showed. For the rototiller I used bigger wheels becasue it is heavier.

The bigger wheels seem to roll easier than the smaller wheels. But the same size wheels you showed work just fine. Just oil them, or perhaps somebody here knows a better product to put on the ball bearings other than oil, but that is what I saw on the workbench so that is what I used, and if using the smaller wheels do use more than 4.

Attached is a picture of me putting on a wheel, this shows the bigger wheels I used for the heavy rototiller pallet. Actually my husband said it sits up jsut a bit high for him now when he attaches it and if I was to do it over again, I would have used the smaller wheels.

Here are the dollies I use for my KK 4-ft box blade that weighs about 250 lb.

The metal swivel casters are from HD ($4 each).

And here's the gantry-type dolly I use for one of my more awkward implements, the pre-owned Yanmar RS1200 rototiller (48" wide). There's about $120 worth of pipe fittings in this one making it by far my most expensive dolly.

I bought a set of auto dollies from Harbour Freight for my disk harrow.
They work pretty well, but I had to return 6 of the 16 wheels for replacements. They were out of round. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

A decent pallet jack runs $300 to $500 new.


I知 also changing all my firewood racks to custom made 4x4x4 pallet racks. I知 making them stackable so I can go two high for when I知 placing them on concrete.

All of this make for a pallet jack in my future.

Just got a pallet hand truck for $200 dollars with a rebuilt piston, double front wheels, they are around if you willing to search. I am also looking a pallets for firewood handling using forks on the tractor.
