That explains it.

I'm in the twin Cities area, not up north. (Which always cracked me up when I moved here. People would say they were going "up north" for the weekend. I'd reply "you already are up north..." )

Minnesota is interesting as we go through 3 growth zones from the top to bottom of the state. As a result, you have two cooler growth zones to your north as you climb the polar peninsula.

And I always think it's funny when Americans say they are going "up north". I live about 6 hours north of you just outside Winnipeg. Going "up north" here means your going another 8 hours north to Thompson. And I guess thats even relative, I have a friend that live in the Yukon.
