thank bruce

I would never mention the Kodiak in the same sentence as a Bush Hog. There is no comparison as the Kodiak quality is terrible to comparable Bush Hog mowers.

Hi Robert
Well we kindly thank you may be right.
We are not happy with the cut of the twin rotary cutter.
In tall Grass it does not cut a clean cut.
I have not seen what the twin Bush Hog will do?
Just trying to fig out the differance.
Thanks Bruce

I have a 8 ft dual spindle Kodiak and am very pleased with it. When I first got it I had problems with it leaving a strip in the middle. I sharped the blades and dropped the rear of the cutter. No problems since. This cutter seems to cut better in an almost level position, front end only half an inch lower than the rear. At first mine came from the dealer with the tail wheels all the way down, back of cutter all the way up. It cut horrible.

Try adjusting it so it's almost level and see what happens.

When i went mower shopping a few years ago, i looked at KK, howse and kodiak for a 7-10' mower as they were the 'cheaper' brands and I had a limited budget.

I decided on larger than I could find in KK, and looked at howse and kodiak. both looked similar.. the kodiak may have been a bit rougher finish.. though I never did mow with one.. ( howse works fine though.. ironically.. my howse 10' cuts nicer than my JD1517 batwing... on flat ground... though it takes longer.. )

( howse ended up being cheaper than kodiak as well.. maybee that's a choice for you? )

good luck!

Hi Soundguy
Well since we already have the KK we want to make it work.
We haven't had a chance to try GATC35's suggestions yet.
I looked at a B H 2105 today it has extra vain of iron at the rear next to the
blades.
We plan to try GATC35 suggestion first, then maybe, add the vains?
Thanks for the help Bruce

Hi guys
We sharpened the blades.
Also put in the vains at the back of the cutter.
I believe it is better.
Also leveled the cutter.
We was running the front high.
So we try it out tomorrow.
thanks Bruce

Running the front high makes the tractor work more.

As the other poster pointed out.. King Kutter and Kodiak are not the same, and there is a percieved quality difference between the two.

Hi Soundguy
Do you know what the Gear box ratio on the K K is
The Kodiak t box is 1.22 and the side boxes are 1.46.
We are still trying to get it to cut the way we want it to.
Thanks Bruce

We got the rotter cutter working good.
We changed the gears from 1.22 to 1. 47 on the main gear box.
so thats is equal to 1.93 speed up on a 540 rpm pto.
We also found that the drag chains on the front where in a loop
Instead hanging seperatly.
Causing the grass and weeds to be pushed down
So the blades could not get to them easly.
We took the chains off.
Also leveled it up and drive slow.
The cut looks almost as good as some lawn mowers.
