Can you cut brush with the high lift blades or will it tear up the blades?

You can cut almost anything you pull a shredder mower over... The high lift blades are very heavy thick steel. You would have to hit something that would damage any blade to tear them up. They are more durable than finish mower type lift blades. KennyV

The only disadvantage of high lifts is they will take a little more HP, but that would not be noticable for most of us. Unless you are mowing very thick, tough, wet grass all the time, I think high lifts would be the say to go if you can find them for your cutter.

hey guys, thanks for all the great input. i have the high lift blades on mine, and doesnt seem to pull the grass back up, so i am thinking maybe farms with junk has something with the airflow thing. my squealer has the rubber guard on the front and i am wondering if that is preventing the blades from working properly. i still think part of it is the loaded r4 tires, because i have noticed that fields cut with tractors with the ag tires always seem to look good. guess i will keep experimenting with it and see what happens. thanks again guys, for taking the time to give me your opinions and for some great insight into this whole bush thing

The question has already been answered, and correctly at that. But, I'll weigh in on it too. There is a SLIGHT bit more HP demand, but hardly enough to even notice. The quality of cut is FAR better in just about every conceivable mowing condition. I'm sold on Bush Hog mowers.... When I purchase a NEW mower, I order them with hi-lift blades in the rare instance where they aren't standard equipment. With the high hours of use we put mowers through mowing highway right-of-ways and such, if there was an inherent problem, I'd think it would have surfaced by now.
