Safety would be the only concern on my property. Flat/rolling ground no problem. But if there's a chance of sliding on a radical slope, maybe mow that section last.

wksinatl, My Dad did not thank so growing up, lol
I dont think you will damage your equipment [ I never have or did due to wet] but you will have bigger grass clumps, lumps etc. You may have to slow down a liitle in thicker spots.

I've found that some grass seems to actually cut BETTER when a bit wet. Combine that wit the fact that it's drier'n gunpowder here now, and I would welcome the opportunity to cut when it's wet. (A LOT less dust)

In a heavy dew mine loads up real quick and leaves behind big clumps of material but that does not stop me if it is going to be hot the day I have to mow. I think that as long as your tractor and mower can handle the wet material go for it.

If you guys need rain just move to Alabama... we've had rain everyday for the last 2 months. Okay... maybe it skipped 2 days in those 2 months. It's been ridiculous.
I've had no choice but to cut with the ground wet. The only thing I don't like is having to clean out under the deck... when it's wet it sticks and builds up quicker. Of course you could run over a road of gravel/rocks and clean it out fairly quickly.

This time of year I prefer to bush hog when there is dew on the ground, especially in fairly tall weeds. The dust, pollen and all other matters of irritation are cut tremendously. It can be a real pain in the nose to bush hog this time of year when it is dry.

I like to hedge. I start mowing with a little dew on the grass. By the time I finish, the dew is gone, and the underside of the deck has a chance to clean itself.
Mowing big tall grass while wet can be a real mess, so you may want to stay ahead of it.

Did you ever wonder why you get flat tires more often when it rains... the dew /rain acts a lube for whatever wants to go through the rubber. See the difference a few drops of water makes when cutting an old tire with a knife. Unless I know what's out there when it's dry, I don't push my luck when it's wet.

I've been waiting and waiting on SEVERAL projects for the rain to break enough, but I tell you what...at least it doesn't feel like the Sahara like it does some years.
As far as the dew goes with the bushhogging, I'd say that's just about the best time to cut unless it's extremely wet.
It's a little cooler and the Bahia cuts well wet. Broadleaf weedy grasses clump some, but it doesn't do any damage unless you leave it on and let moisture rust the underside of your hog for years on end.
Remember to keep your PTO shaft and gearbox lubed/greased to keep moisture out.

I missed this thread somehow. For us, the only holdback is the slopes. My brother broke the front axle off a new IH 806 back in the 60's bush hogging on a slope. Once it started to slide on the wet grass there was no slowing down till it hit bottom going straight down. I don't think he intended to bush hog all the way down that hill.
