The only serious issue with the L3800 is the rough 3 point hitch on all the economy L-series tractors, and some folks don't mind it at all. Before you sign on the dotted line, ask the selling dealer to hook up a bush hog, and try raising and lowering it slowly. You'll soon decide if you can live with it or not.
My L3400 with a 700 lb 5 foot cutter behind it has no problems at all, but you definitely know it's back there. I mow without the loader attached usually.
