BUTT-UGLY BOOMERS!

Whe I looked at these I thought Sigourney Weaver was going to pop out becasue that thing looked like an alien of some sort. I actually get a little picky about how a tractor looks.. I like the "00" Manidras.. but the other series besides the CUT are ugly also.

I spent the better part of yesterday playing around on the B2910 clearing an industrial field of debris like pallet racks, old tires and a kitchen sink. I don't use that tractor as much as I used to becuase I'm maintaing my property with tractors more than I am building things with tractors. The B2910 has a FEL and is a nice size tractor for doing work.

But I've spent considerably more time on my NH TC24D over the past year and really have come to like it. I know the NEW 04 units are a little more streamlined than my 03 TC, but the fact of the matter is that the sloping hoods and sleek lines on the TC tractors (regardless of the new or the old style headlights) really give you a great amount of visibility out front. I found myself constantly trying to look around the big rectangle flat hood on the Kubota to make sure I picked up what I was aiming for!

I guess what I am trying to say is that there is some extra functionality in the sloped and rouned hoods they put on the TC tractors that I didn't even realize until yesterday. I don't like the looks of the 04 lights, but I think stacking them would give a better pattern than I have on my 03 which has shadow spots in the light pattern.

We may each prefer one LOOK to another, but out in the field, the big flat rectangle of a hood, and the straight loader arms on the B2910 sure block the view. I think I would have had fun out in that field with an old Ford and a trip bucket loader because it was a nice sunny day and I was not stuck in my office, but I also think that the work would have gotten done faster had I been using a tractor with a rounded sloped hood and curved arm loaders that didn't block the view of the ground in front of me.

I really like my Kubota, but I find more reasons to love my NH every time I have to compare the tractors. The new NH style may not be beautiful, but if these big toys of ours are actually tools, then doesn't it make sense to use the right tool!?!

I agree.

The lights may be ugly, but they do serve a purpose. Like Bob said, they are more useful when using a front loader. It cuts down on the shadow effect. Also, they give more light off to the sides. If you have looked at the NH site, they show a picture of this. I'll post it here for those that haven't.

To some the lights may look ugly, but as far as I can tell, they seem to be the most functional.

I think the point would have been better taken had they shot that photo with a FEL attached.

I agree with you, JayC.

You know what? I can't the see the lights from the operators seat, so I really don't care how they look. A tractor is a tool, and as long as it performs the way I need it to perform, I don't really care how it looks. If it meets my needs and my budget, I'll buy Butt-Ugly every time! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can type about anything and then post it, so long as you aren't Junkman or so long as the thread isn't being read by CowboyDoc. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You know, I'm starting to really not care what the headlights look like, so long as New Holland moves that blasted hightlight switch that I keep turning off with my knee.
Who's idea was it to put the switch there??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
