Where are you looking for these? Craigs list? Frederics? What's the price on each if you have leads on them, or will you wait till one pops up? May be awhile? I don't look often but don't see many 1700s or really 1610s?
I'm looking all over for them. eBay, Craig's list, local adds, and Internet tractor sites, even Fredricks. I might end up going to Fredricks. They will be expensive so that is my last resort
I'm a shorty at 5'9" and 150lb's. I fit in it easily but someone larger may find the smaller units a squeeze. I have seen and heard of taller people using them OK just your dismount needs to be "adjusted"
I don't find mine runs hot, even in the middle of summer running the slasher at 2300 rpm and it still runs at about 100 odd degrees C.
I just remembered my Dad using it a few years ago and he did OK in it and he's 6'3", just had to swing his leg over everything to get off.
Neat it's funny you say that your 6'3 dad swings his leg over to get off the tractor because that's what I do when I get off my 2210d now. Forgot to ask you, did you put a water pump on your 1500, or is it still the Syphon cooling?
Thanks Clemsonfor. I didn't see that he did either but just wanted to make sure. You are about the same build as I am, so the question is do you feel to cramped? Especially if your turning around to see behind you when your backing up and such? I'm really torn between the PS and geared but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get the 1700d, the only reason not to get it would be the PS, all other things lead me to the 1700d.
I know they said the 1700 has smaller tires but is the rest of the tractor the same in size. I'll have to go back to what California said. I think it is? No I don't really feel cramped. But I feel like I'm in a Cadillac when I drive my cousins JD or another larger tractor. My freinds JD855 (a yanmar painted green is similar to my 2000).
But no I seem to have enough space and I can turn around fine. I have even heard folks have slots the seat mount or whatever so they can get the seat to go back a few more inches.
I think the 1700 Is 2" shorter and narrower than the 2000 with smaller tires. And I was just curious since they are so close in size. I have also heard of folks who have put a different seat on with rails to slide it back a touch. I ask all theses questions because I had these 3 tractors in mind but have never seen any of those models in person. So I'm grateful for everyone who has put their 2 cents worth into this thread
