1975 ford 3 tractor - farm & garden - by owner - sale

I was looking for wheels for the 3600 that were not rotted out and came across this 3000 Ford 55 miles away so I gave the car a full charge and headed out. The engine noise sounded like at the rod/crank level but it did almost stop after the oil pressure came up. The guy started it up but did not want it running because he said he was going to fix it if I did not buy it.
Due to the canister oil filter it has to be 1969 or older. The 4 speed no live PTO confused me. Due to cuts in the tire tread like from front end loader past usage then some plugged hydraulic fitting it must have had a loader on it at some point. The power steering did not work but it had no fluid in it. The rot around the rear tubes was advancing but the big surprise was a thick coat of paint applied by brush.
He only wanted to text but before I left the house I called and talked and got the GPS address texted to me. I have bought one tractor with a blown engine and that did not turn out to be a cheap tractor so I asked if he would take less than the $2200 price and he said no. A couple hours after I got home he texted asking what was my offer but was happy it was at his place instead of mine. I think younger people are more into texting than talking.
I made the trip with 20 miles remaining on the battery.
I forgot to mention seeing the oil pan had been pulled I asked the guy about it and he said a friend pulled it for him. Later out of the blue he said he expects there is one rod and one main bearing that needs replacing and that he is pulling it off of CL (that was 4 days ago) if I did not take it and fix the knocking. I added a photo from the ad just in case he does pull the ad.
