Buying off CL and the buyer wants cash

It's just the way the game is played, here anyway. You try and find a deal, but loose any guarantee or documentation. I have bought and sold enough stuff, and generally speaking it's never a problem. Problem starts when the cheque book comes out.

Like I said though, I usually have no trouble making an invoice. All sales final, AS IS, higher price and Sales TAX.

I started to say "you Canadians, always doing things the hard way". Then I realized that's unfair. This is "your" rule, nothing to do with where you live. I'm with Vince, I'd never buy from you. Your attitude makes me not trust you.

WELL, I have never cheated anyone on private deals, and have been in the security bus for almost thirty years, never advertising once, only word of mouth. Pretty unsavory charactor! But, hey, if you don't like the deal . . .

I go as far to tell people, not to buy my stuff when I don't think it's in THEIR best interest. Did I mention, unsavory?

Your line of work has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with your trustworthiness in a business transaction. :)

No, you are right. The security business is mostly about BS and making recurring revenue.

So that plays right into the no receipt, income tax, sales tax thing in CL sales/purchases.

Not sure I follow. I have sold forestry equipment. Buyers tend to be business people. They don't care that I charge HST because it's an input credit. But they pay the asking price, and get a receipt. All legal. It's generally stuff you try and establish before hand. I tell people, you want a receipt, you pay the taxes.

I try to pay the taxes which I'm liable for, as that's part of living in a society. If I felt strongly enough about it I would try to get things changed- or vote accordingly, as I have done in the past and will do in the future. If somebody feels the need to cheat the government, I will spend my money elsewhere.

If you buy something off CL that you think should have sales tax who do you give it to?

I declare it on my state income tax at the end of the year. It's pretty hard to write off a $3000 winch, if I didn't pay the taxes on it in the first place.

Is that even a serious question? To the biggest thieves of all. The government. And if you think your vote matters. I do have some nice swamp land to sell you.
