BX 1800 ENGINE LIFE EXPECTANCY

I left the dealership not long after the BX's came out. I honestly have not seen any BX hydro failures but my exposure has been very limited. Hydrostats are very dependent on the type of use. The engine will likely outlive the hydro though but I can't put a number to it. The HST failures I've seen in B-series tractors were in very demanding high use landscape contractor use, not typically in homeowner use. Typical homeowners in my area put 50-100 hrs a year so even the abusive environment that I have seen B-series fail will still give well over 20 years of use.

Heavy loader and boxscraper work takes its toll much faster than mowing for sure. By heavy I mean high production work.

I am certainly not a troll, lol. I try really hard not to inject fear into my posts only my experience. I also try to keep my opinions to myself unless they are pertinent. Sometimes I may post in haste and leave out information, but not to be malicious. I prefer the phone app to the online site so my haste is due more to the interface and being on the move from one job to the next.

I hope there is no animosity between us. The fact that you have owned so many different Kubotas makes your input valuable to me too.

I knew we could work it out by communicating.:thumbsup: We were just having a failure to communicate. I now know you and you know me and I'm happy.
At one time we had and probably still do an individual that used to post these almost pages long responses that seemed to be from an engineer. Extremely complicated responses. I later got a PM from the individual and he said he was maybe interested in buying a tractor himself one day. Didn't own a tractor or any of the mowers he was always telling people that they needed. He told me he did own an old box store riding mower. He was getting people very confused.
Any way, we now know each other.:drink:

John your one of the reasons i bought my pitbull (bx25) in the first place. And brian being a fellow wrench, what can i say. I was a small engine mechanic for years so i have seen extremes of neglect & failures in otherwise stellar machines. Just glad to have all your knowledge and brand passion!!

I have NO reservations recommending a BX25 as a reliable work horse that far exceeds its size. My most favorite all around and most used tractor. Still judging my B2620 FEL BH against the BX25. I didn't use my BX25 for mowing nor do I the B2620 so no knowledge as for mowing aspects of these two specific machines. I use Fs for mowing and doubt I'll change that. Have mowed with most of the other tractors using MMM and RFMs before moving into Fs for mowing.

Geez guys, lol. I did say NO maintenance. The particular instance I was referring to was a machine whose air filter was so plugged it sucked a hole in it and dusted the engine. It never saw it's 50 hr service. The owner was a little upset that his guys never checked anything.

I'm willing to let some things go, and it seems that others here have let things slide............but I still need to question a few things.

1) how does your 80 hour rebuild now become a less than 50 hour rebuild?

2). How does the less than 50 hour rebuild, become the owners responsibility............since the operators manual is specific on service intervals.
