I had removed the loader and backhoe yesterday from my tractor and this evening when I attempted to reinstall them, I found that they both had "fallen" from the position that I took them off at. I had to hook up the lines and reposition them before I could mount them. The loader was the most difficult /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifbecause I couldn't get it aligned squarely with the seat bars. Is it common for this to happen? I also have not been able to get the deck adjusting knob to the "top" position without lying down on my back and fiddling with it from underneath. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. is this an easy adjustment to fix this problem.... I have 20 hours on the machine and am still trying to learn about it..... thanks The Junkman /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't have a backhoe so no help there, but on the FEL make sure you don't put the joystick in the float position after you remove it from the tractor. Also make sure it is not leaking any fluid that might cause it to lose pressure. If you find leaks be sure to tell your dealer so they can be repaired under warranty. It also never hurts to reread the operators manuals for the tractor and all attachments. Sometimes you discover procedures that you missed the first time around. I keep my manuals handy for review. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junkman - First off what to you mean by fallen? On my BX22 once the loader is removed I CAN use the stick to push or pull the “seat bars” in or out. As while moving the stick I can roll the bucket.

As far as the backhoe it also should not fall. It the stabilizers fall they need seals or new piston assemblies. One of my feet fell and they replaced.

Lastly, To move the deck know I hold the lever to move the deck ALL the way up (hear motor lower) and then turn to top. Without doing this I can not move it.

Give that a try

I can't help you with the backhoe, but there is an adjustment that can be made to allow the deck heigth adjustment knob to go into TOP easier. It's in your manual, I think you have to lower the deck mounts a little. I had to do this as well when I first got it. The dealer set it up without something on the back, and since the mower deck uses the same lift mechanism, it threw it out of adjustment as soon as I tried to put it into TOP with something on the back. anyhow, it's a fairly easy adjustment, and it is documented in your mower manual.

When I reinstall my FEL, I just get the tractor mounts in line with the FEL mounts. You probably noticed that the left FEL mount raises up a little after removing the FEL. I just move the bucket and lift arms to position the FEL in the mounts, instead of trying to drive my tractor into the perfect spot to dock the FEL. Does that make sense?

I'm having a little trouble visualizing your problem, as I have no problems like you describe.

For the FEL, once it's up on the legs and you remove the pins, you just use the hydaulics to arrange things so that you only need to pull back under it for reinstall. Once you shut down and disconnect, be sure to relieve any pressue by working the stick.

For the Backhoe, once it's "off" you are supposed to lower it completely to the ground...it should not be supported by the stablizers at all relative to weight and should only be sitting on it's base. The stablizer arms remain horizontal only for "tipping" protection. That's why you're supposed to remove it only on a flat, level area. It's important to relieve pressure on it, too by working the sticks a bit, especially in hot weather. It can be nearly impossible to put the hoses back on the tractor if there is any pressure and you add the heat of the sun! DAMHIKT!!

I have had the same thing happen. No problem. The BH usually ends up with the frame sitting flat on the floor, with the arm having rolled and the outriggers also settled. The first time I thought it would be a problem, but I found that the hoses in the BH, to the tractor, are longer than I thought. A gentle pull and they extended long enough to mate up with the tractor. Then using the hydraulics I was easily able to reposition the BH for re-attachment.

On the FEL, the support arms will provide enough room to clear the mounts. The only that occurs is that the right side frame usually sags down due to the additional weight of the valve assembly. I just pull up on the lower end of the right side mount, to pivot it back to where it needs to be. When I pull up on the right, the left side retracts as the oil circulates between the two cylinders. I just get them to the same approximate angle and mount it up as usual.

Jim Becker and Techman, you did a much better job of explaining that than I did. Thanks for coverin' me!

Junkman, it's a familiarity thing. When I first got my BX22 I was totally perplexed with the way everything went on it, and came off. I'd fumble and get confused and cuss it all.

Now with 140 hours on it, and I constantly swap the attachements on and off it, I can do it easy as pie - AND fast. I can install/detach the FEL and backhoe both in about 5 minutes for both.

Tricks? If you detach on flat ground, perfectly flat....it's MUCH easier. I also use a pair of thin latex medical gloves as you always get some hydaulic fluids on your hands and the gloves will give you a better grip on the connector lines, plus leave your hands clean(er) when you're done.
