Tractor
BX2200
I hate to bring this up since it has obviously been covered in past posts but I'm stuck. With 120 hrs on the meter my strap also broke as others have stated. I've contacted my local dealer and he denies ever hearing of this issue and said I can buy parts from him /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I bought the tractor from Carver and the parts guy there also denies having heard of this issue and the part numbers I pulled from previous posts bring up nothing. He is also willing to sell me all the parts I need /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Can anyone help?

thanks,
Mike

Send an e mail to JKassel@kubota.com and explain the problem to him. Give him the details and the purchase date, serial number, hours, etc. and possibly a digital picture of the broken part. I am certain that this will bring some resolve to the problem. Please don't tell him that I gave you the e mail address. You do want to get this fixed don't you? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Personally, I think that your local dealer is playing ostrich and has his head in some dark orifice. I can't imagine that there isn't a service bulletin addressing this problem that has been sent to the dealerships by now. Makes me wonder how these people stay in business. Haven't they ever heard of addressing a customer problem with some semblance of compassion to resolve it with a degree of amicability. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif With dealers like yours, people wonder why I am harsh on dealers? They are not all bad, and it is true that we only hear about the bad ones, but why is it that it seems that there seem to be so many bad Kubota dealers?

How old is the tractor?

If it is within the warranty period, why would it not be covered?

I would follow Junkman's lead on this I think...if the local dealer was not willing to do what he should.

Steve... If the tractor is less than two years old, shouldn't the new strap be covered by warranty? With 120 hours it's probably less than two years old.

If your BX is less then 2 years it is covered under Warentee.
Make sure you get the complete updated kit. Chances are that the dealer does not have the updated kit in there system. That is what Kubota Corperation told me in California. They did not have the update out to the dealers when I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago. Most dealers are left in the dark on this one. (an updated parts kit of the 1st parts update with a new part # that superceeds the part # of the latest update)
Confusing!!!
Just have the dealer order part # K2561-98210 and when your dealer recieves the part have the dealer look on the instruction manual. It should read: BRACKET, KIT (AIR CLEANER) K2561-9811 for KUBOTA TRACTOR BX2200D
It will have the picture of the OLD (1st update) kit which just had 2 rectagular pieces of metal called washer support and the picture of the NEW update which is much heavier built. I installed it Sunday and it seems to work much better.

This has been such an on going problem for all BX owners that Kubota should be replacing them free of charge no matter how long the tractor has been in service. It isn't like they are wearing out. The original part has been defective from the beginning and its failure is only determined by the number of hours before the metal fatigue happens. The replacement is the same. After a certain number of hours, the metal fatigue takes its toll and failure is the result. With Kubota BX air cleaners, failure of the bracket isn't if it is going to fail, but when? Kubota should do a recall and fix this problem for all owners and not wait till they fail one at a time, or at least send every dealer a couple of kits so they have them in stock for the customers when they fail. At the very least, send a bulletin to the service department advising them of the problem. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Junkman... I sure agree with you on this one. From my short experience with Kubota they try to ignore manufacturing/design defects. The air filter bracket is one example and the sticking hydro pedal is another. The sticking hydro is a safety issue and all owners should be notified of the potential problem. Last summer I nearly went over an embankment when my pedal stuck. I alerted Kubota of the problem and took my tractor to the dealer. Kubota didn't seem to be concerned about the problem. The said there was a service bulletin with a fix but they never notified owners of this safety issue. To make matters worse, the fix did not resolve my problem and they tried to charge me for the labor to apply the fix.
The dealer told me to bring the tractor back to them and they will look at it again. They said they have no idea what to do next.
