BX 2200 Axle Seal

My BX2200 had a leak on the front axle, on the left side where it turns. Got it fixed under waranty, it was a year old, the mechanic told me if i run it in mud be sure to wash the mud off befor it dries because it can cause that seal to leak. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif, ive had a little leak on the front axle for almost a year, just enough to noitice it not bad, took it to the dealer and they fixed it . He said it was a oring , now its leaking again, the leak is right where the axle pivots . is that were yours is leaking.

That's where mine was leaking. Probably a good idea to keep the mud cleaned off before it dries. I definitely think the front axle needs to be vented. I've got about 5 hours of time on mine since putting in the vent, and it remains dry.

hey Blueicon1,

How did you vent the front axle? My BX23 is leaking a bit also. Is there a standard vent zerk I can get some where?
Thank you.

I did end up pulling the hub off and having Kubota install a new seal. The damage was done to the seal prior to me installing the vent. To install the vent, I removed the top plug (opposite side from the dip stick), tapped a 1/4 or 1/8 NPT thread into it, installed a NPT x barbed brass fitting, some clear tubing, and a vent. Tied it about 8-10" above the axle, leaving enough slack for the axle to pivot. Haven't any pictures that show much of anything.

Is there something wrong with this picture? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Buy a tractor and if you drive in some mud and don't wash it you risk oil seal failure?

Boy, I hope that is just that mechanic's opinion and not a fact! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hey Bluecon1,

Thank you for the info about the vent. Henro you're right, I don't think the mud did the job, because mine started to leak in the middle of winter right after I had just finished blowing snow. I will ask my dealer to replace the seal since my BX23 still under wanrantee.

I like my dealer a lot, I think the man is a gentleman. But the only thing I don't like about him is when he takes the tractor away on the back of a pickup without strapping it down. I tried to convince him but to no avail, I guess the old saying " you can't teach an old dog a new trick" still in effect to today /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had both rear axle seals replaced under warranty after 100 hours on the tractor. Both sides were seaping. This is on a B2410.

Hey Lbrown59,

The answer is very easy, just remove the BH and the FEL you will end up no more than 6 feet /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Stop beeing such a hair splitter, or no one would want to be your friend /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
