BX 2230 vs BX 23

 / BX 2230 vs BX 23 #21
When I was shopping for the BX2230, one of the Kubota dealers configured a Woods FEL inplace of the Kubota OEM. This made his quote lower than the quote I had from the other Kubota dealer who quoted an OEM FEL. When I saw this on the quote sheet I had him refigure to OEM as that was what I wanted to stay with (as well as compareing apples to apples) and the price went up approx $200. He said they could get the Woods eqt cheaper and that they were just about identical in specs. I was also looking at B7510's and he priced me out the Woods FEL & BH options for it also. Said they liked the Woods eqt not to mention they must get a better margin on them. Warranty wasn't an issue as they said that THEY would honor all warranty claims on what they sold.
They also sold/serviced MF's too and I'd say they config'ed Woods on them also.
Soon after I went for the BX23 as it met my OEM requirement as well as pricing out better in the big picture.
I don't have any problem w/Woods eqt but in my case, I required OEM and worked the pricing to that end.

Question, can the BX2230 w/the Woods BH mounted also have the MMM mounted & operational?

Matt,

Thanks for the info it was very helpful. If I ever want to add a backhoe it is something to consider since my BX is now out of warranty. I am sure this thread has also helped others thinking of going to the BX23 and gives them options to think about. Can not wait to see the pictures. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junkman,

Is there an issue with the woods subframe and the MMM or the other front or mid attachments, I seem to remember this being one issue from back a year or so.

My dealer also told me that the woods bh could bend the frame on the 2230 or 2200. Not sure why or how, but then I went for the oem stuff anyway.

Yes, just like the Kubota install you can mount and run the MMM while the hoe and loader are installed.

I think all said and done, you can buy the 2230 with Woods gear for a few grand less than the BX23.

First I don't have any real interest in the subject, since I have a backhoe on my larger Kubota and don't need one on the BX.

But somehow I don't think the price would be much different. I am pretty sure you can get a BX23 without MMM around here for something like 15K to 15.3K.

A few grand less would drop that to 12K or a bit more.

Scrounger, not yours specifically, but in general, where you are located, what would a BX2230 with a Woods loader an backhoe on it go for?

My impression has been, and it could be totally wrong, is that the BX2230 (or my BX2200) would end up costing more, not less than a BX22/23 if I elected to add the Woods loader and backhoe to it after the fact... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Its going to vary but when I priced it all out with the Woods FEL BH and a Kubota MMM on the 2230, I was about $1500 less than the BX23. It will be different for everyone but I think the margins on the Woods gear is better than the Kubota products. Since even the dealers being charged differently, its a crap shoot on what you will get.

I remember hearing about it being questioned, but in the end, I believe that it turned out to be just a rumor and the MMM will work the same as on the BX22/23

I believe that your dealer was just trying to make a sale. If the Woods BH could damage the frame of a BX, then they wouldn't have released it for sale. I don't believe that a company as large as Woods would consider releasing any product that wasn't fully tested to do what it is supposed to be able to do. I have never questioned the quality of their products, but I have been known to question why they are usually more expensive than the competition for similar product. Possibly it is there quality that is different ?????

Thanks for all the info guys. This has been the best resource by far. I made a few more phone calls to other dealers in the Northern VA area, I've got a quote of $17,000 for a BX23 w/ 60" MMM. I mentioned I wanted to upgrade the alternator and get the blockheater...
I crack up when the salemen try to steer you one way or the other. "You don't need a block heater". For $35 I don't think I'm going to blink at that when you consider he whole package price.
I believe the guy may have wanted to move his last 2230s. He did admit he'd only started at the dealershipabout 6 weeks. It sounded like he was a displaced farmer - a casualty of urban sprawl.
I've decided on the BX23 and I've floated it past the wife review board a couple of times. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm building up my case/justification...
I would feel bad to yank a deal from my local dealer and go with one a little farther out but the cost will drive alot of it.

Thanks again for all the feedback.
