BX-24 Rear Drive Shaft Fan Questions

A skid plate is a must for BX's doing TLB work sans the MMM's.
I recommend to do a seach for BX skidplates in Kubota Owning operating, theres many plans and all kinds of different solutions. Also, good testimonials on the Bro Tec too.

All this talk about the labor involved for the plastic fan makes me wonder if i oughta make my own skidplate for my BX24. I just wish i had some sort of template of the brotek design and see if i can improve on it . I guess i am trying to save money making my own skid plate. :( Anyone have a better idea ?

Check the link in the #2 rely in this post, should give you an idea of how simple it is to fab a skidplate, quick and easy on and off and has worked for me.

Yes I want to thank you folks for highlighting the fan and sticks breaking problem,
I bought a BX26 last month and have been making ATV trails willy nilly in deep brush with FEL and have been lucky so far.

I spent two hours and made a 3/4 thick plywood 11 inch x 27 inch skid plate last night with a 3 inch x 10inch sheet metal front piece , with cutouts for oil filter and any linkages that protruded. Hung it all from Steel strapping bolted to four existing holes in frame.
Should work for now.
Next purchase will be a markham tooth bar , and maybe a 48" rototiller in spring.
This site has been very helpful highlighting things I should do or can do ! thanks

Now I know what needs to be removed and when. The first time through I had no manuel or significant advice to tackle this chore. Plus instead of removing the fueltank and seat and fenders which were suggested I cut a hole above the propeller in line with the bolt that holds the spline. This indeed saves alot of labour.

I'll try and get some pictures posted. The hole I cut is just to the left of center on the hump. If you have to take that shaft off you will see what I mean. The lock bolt is only accesseble from the top. Hope this helps. PM me if there are any specific Questions. Paul:)
