Been thinking a long time about fabricating a metal box to mount on my BX25D to hold my 20ft chain. Up until now I have just laid it on the floor and it was constantly in the way of my feet. Well... I think I have a great solution... what do you think? Found a metal ammo box at Costco... painted it the proper color and mounted it to the FEL tower with Click Bond fasteners. No drilling, no welding on the tractor! I hope to upload a you tube video on the install shortly.

I just keep my chains in the 2500hd truck box. That's nice also.

And the best part is no one knows it used to be an ammo can.

Mark, what do you do: wax your BX every week. Mine does not have time to wax its self between jobs so is no longer shiny, plus I have to store outside.

My first day in the wood pile and that box would be on the ground smashed up.

Never waxed it once! A rare wash... my BX is just photogenic! :D

That was the icing on the cake... it came in a two pack the chains fit in the small can so I got more room for ammo!

Okay put together a video in detail of the entire mod, step by step and a little thought process as well. Warning... it ended up 25 minutes long. Maybe it will put you to sleep or maybe you will like it?

Here are a couple 'behind the scenes' photos of the mounting...

Where do you buy the click bond studs? Or do you with in aviation?

Okay! Very much liking my ammo/chain box... so much I decided to mount another can on the other FEL tower! I think I have finally solved my storage problem on my BX... now I have two ammo boxes and the optional little Kubota tool box mounted to the ROPS that I use to hold pins, safety glasses, gloves, etc. The pic of the Kubota box is deceiving. Much smaller in person and this is what led me on my quest for more storage.

Looks great.

Hey where did you get the mirrors you have mounted on your tractor?

nice work on it. I did very similar thing with an ammo can about 5 years ago and I have loved it. I didn't put drain holes in and things stay very dry in the box but I also don't put things in there wet. not the best picture but you can see it down by the right side.View attachment 482249IMAG0384.jpg

I needed a weight box, and added the chain rails later. Works great, and easy to access! Got chains hanging on both sides.
