Looks good. I'd imagine that would make the engineers squirm in their chair, and the warranty people sweat. But it looks like fun too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Have pics of the 'makings' in progress?

Yes, finally, the old shoulder joint has been giving me a lot of problems so things have slowed down here, but I have been doing a little at a time, just finished this morning so haven't had a chance to get it on the hillside yet, but it will be a lot more stable I'm sure.
SnoFalls, I hear the old Honda three wheelers would float too, but they had a tendency to flip belly up, afraid that might happen with this too and the ROPS probably wouldn't help in that instance. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif JerryG, maybe BXtremeGoat /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
beenthere, since the warranty is long gone, I'll just have to keep an eye out for something to break, I got a few pics when I put the rear wheels together, but I have since took them apart and shortened the spacers so they would be closer together, when I take the fronts off, I can get some pics of how they are put together. The front wheels are held on with bolts so I had to make studs to put in the axle flange, I then used a connector nut to hold the front wheel on. The connector nuts were about 2" long so they were long enough to use a piece of all thread to extend out to hold the outter wheel on. I had to make a 1and1/4" spacer to go between the wheels, that was the hardest part to do, but it was fun work.

Milkman,

Look forward to seeing some detailed pictures showing how you did it!

I have a set of turf tires that I could put on the outside of the bars on my BX, to add stability on hillsides...if I felt the need.

Now you got me thinkin'...a dangerous proposition for certain... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

seems like it could put a lot of stress on the end of the axles....I would not do it to mine....but that's me

Sweet, just remember to inflate the inners to a higher pressure than the outers, and you'll extend the life of your bearings. I'm usin' a 4 psi delta, and haven't any trouble now for 250 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looks good /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hows the steering on that beast?

I like the exhaust, is it quieter or effect the performance w/two mufflers? -or- did you remove the OEM muffler?

Love it for added stability on hills!

Right after I put duals on my Gravely, its right axle seal started to leak. Also had put steering brakes on it. In doing this, it disturbed the seal because you can just pull the axles out without the brake backer plate bolted in place. So, don't know whether it was from disturbing the seal or from extra stress via the dual wheels. Gravelys were designed to take dual wheels though.

Duals add TWICE the traction, plus give more side-to-side stability.

Took one side apart today and got pictures so maybe it will show how simple it was.
The wheel bolts are 9/16X18 TP so I had to put studs in the hubs first thing.

Here's all the parts, I found the nuts and all thread at McMaster-Carr, and shipping is really reasonable and fast. I had to make the spacer ring and rivet it together. If you look really close, you can see that the lip on the wheels are different diameter. The one on the left is the original wheel and it is smaller diameter than the new wheel on the right so I had to add the blocks on the spacer ring to make it fit the larger diameter of the new wheel.
