It's like a soap opera, you need to keep coming back often to catch up. Hilarious

Keep it goin' Jammer. This thread is the best and you've got a good sense of humour. Don't let the "voices of consensus" on this site shout you down. Half of them didn't know tractors from beans 10 years ago, but lotsa fragile egos. That's where the squawking comes from, that and no sense of humour.

The BX does seem to have achieved cult status here. Say something against one and you've stepped on many toes.

So, they got you for tractor abuse. Are they going to force you to move to the city and live in a neighborhood full of kids? Maybe they should be done with it and transport all us Caucasian males far beyond the northern sea...whatever gets abused is our fault.

May the force of the BX nation be heard. I love my BX more than the animals in my house.

What value has tractor testing done by somebody who does not know how to fill the public profile?

Please, go on jammer, was there anything else you wanted to share?

Well, that's just my standard phrase when someone on the internet starts laying out their credentials to prove that they know something. Such credentials are meaningless. And before anyone gets their feelings hurt (again) I usually use the phrase to remind people that I am the one who might be a 13 year old girl from Manhatten.
Perfect!

Jammer - change the fuel filter.

I first tried it in high and then low range. And yes, the brake was off. Although everyone has different needs and expectations from a machine, this one unfortunately for me did not meet them. I'm glad it works for you. It is a well built machine and is a perfect fit for many such as yourself. Now that I have cooled down from my frustrations with it, I realize that I may have been trashing the poor thing which in hindsight i shouldn't have done as bad. And although I admired the green machine, I'm an orange fan. The price on the 1500 is right, and since it failed me, quite unexpectedly, I got a little peeved. Looks like I may have to spend a little more than I thought. It's just a start. I need more power and something bigger and more comfortable if i am going to be living with the thing for years.
If the x744 is what you want and the price on the bx1500 is what you expected to pay, then you are going to need to spend quite a bit more than you thought (think thousands). Of course, you're going to get more as well-more HP, more comfort, more manueverability, etc.

When I bought my bx1500, I looked closely at the JD x595 as well. The x595 appeared to be an outstanding machine, but for the configuration I wanted (FEL, 3ph, rear PTO) the x595 would have been thousands of $ more (I can't remember how many thousands, I think maybe 4?). The only difference between the machines (that mattered to me) was the extra 8hp(?) in the x595. So far the trade-off (8 HP for $4K) has worked well for me. If the additional comfort, power, and manueverablility is worth the extra $ for you, then the x744 is probably the better choice for you.

I would simply suggest that it is not reasonable to expect one manufacturer to accept less money for equivalent utility, and it seems that was your expectation going into this. You expected (hoped) to buy an x744 type machine at a bx 1500 price. Your disappointment is due to the fact that your expectations (perhaps based in part upon Kubota's marketing) were unreasonable, not because the equipment was deficient. LB's statement about apples to oranges comparison was essentially correct, though it admittedly lacked discretion. And if you believe everything claimed in advertising, then I have a great deal for you on some oceanfront property in Arizona.

Please let us know when you get that x744, and what you paid for it.

Jammer, see what a great place this is. If common sense, rational thought and simple decency don't appeal to you, just hang out long enough and you'll find someone like Bob who values a good sense of humor more than those sorts of things. There's something for everyone here!

And when I said slam, maybe I should have used a different adjective.

Wrong again. Slam is a verb.
