I am replacing my Wheel Horse 520H (20hp Onan/ Hydro) and want something more powerful AND 4WD.
Plowing snow is hard on it and I really want a FEL too. I have no need for a backhoe, but if i get the BX2360, i can always borrow one.
I do believe that the BX1860 is going to meet my needs (mowing, plowing, and moving dirt/mulch) but if I am going to buy, do I just get the BX2360 and be done with it?
What would be the overall cost difference between them? Will the increase in HP/torque be THAT noticeable when I want to move heavy snow, dirt? What if I wanted to move rolling cars around my yard? Might the 1860 be up to the task?

I already started shopping and got a price (first stop) for the BX1860 + 48" deck (will be getting 54" thanks to this forum), FEL and grill guard for $12845. Thoughts?

You might want to search the archives as a couple of people went through this not too long ago and I think one guy wound up buying a BX2660.

The process seems to go, well if I am thinking about an 1860 why not get a 2360 and while I am looking at a 2360 might as well look at the 2660 as it only costs a little more than the 2360.

I wound up with a BX2660, but I went to buy a B2920, so I found a smaller tractor best met my needs.

I'm sure both machines will meet your needs well...I went from a BX2230 to a BX1860 becuase I needed a smaller machine and a smaller mower deck (60" to 48") After over a year of use, I see very little differences in the power and the capability.

I use my 1860 to pull my boat in and out of my garage. Its probably around 4500 lbs, and the BX doesn't even breath hard. I pulled a small utility trailer loaded with hay bales and people at Halloween. A mini-hayrack ride! Not sure how much it weighed, but it was quite a bit and the BX pulled it all over the neighborhood which includes some small hills. Pulling cars around on flat ground should not be a problem.

Both Tractors work well. What attachments do you want to use???

Few Specs
BX1860 18hp Engine - 13.7hp PTO
BX2360 23hp Engine - 17.7hp PTO
BX2660 25.5hp Engine - 19.5hp PTO

Rad Blizzard Rear Snow Blower Requires 15min PTP HP to run 48" blower
Land Pride PD10 Post Hole Digger Requires 15min PTO HP to run it.
Land Pride RTA10 & RTR10 Series tillers require min of 17 PTO HP
Land pride RCR1542 42" Rotary Cutter - Min 15 PTO HP
Some brand chippers are recomending around 15min PTO HP

BX1860 can have a 48" or 54" mid mower
BX2360 can have a 54" or 60" mid mower
BX2660 can have a 54" or 60" mid mower

In most cases it's worth a little extra money to have some HP in reserve. I normally recomend buying one tractor size larger than what you think you need.

Just my opinion??

I really don't think you really need to worry about HP of BX. Let your wallet determine it. Everyone always say they wished they went larger. A 18 HP diesel is much more powerful then the gas 20 HP you been using. If you are going to use pto implements, The larger diesel is easier to throttle down then run it at 3200rpms that screams to get the rated RPM's.
