Local guy has a 2001 or 2002 BX22. Has the FEL, Backhoe, & 60" belly mower. Machine has around 350 hours on it. Residential use only. It has all things I will use/need

Still waiting to find out how often it has been serviced (to see if the guy took care of it) and I have not seen it in person.

Asking price is well under $9K which is quite a few thousand less than others I have seen listed on Tractorhouse.

Now if this is a good deal, I have a problem of sorts. I live in the NorthEast where the tractor currently is, BUT, I will be moving/relocating South in a few months to my small farm (15ac) and the distance is around 1100 miles.

Soooooooo, if I can get this machine for a really good price, is it feasible to transport it that distance with my 1/2 ton truck towing the trailer/machine or do I just wait until I get down there to pick up a machine?

Are there any issues with the BX22?

I tow a BX2200 on a car hauling trailer with a 1/2 ton pickup with no problem whatsoever. But then, I do the same with a 8K pound L48. Make sure you have a Tundra.:D

Do a search using your tractor's model to get information about issues with the model. There is plenty of information about every kind of Kubota made on TBN.

You absolutely can trailer that machine with a 1/2 ton pickup. I have a BX23 and have towed it many times with my 1/2 ton Chevy. You must have a properly equipt trailer however. I have a tandem axle 7,000 lbs trailer, with brakes of course. I sometime even forget it is back there. Also, 350 hrs is not a lot of hours. Unless the guy has never changed the oil on it. I wouldn't hesitate a bit. Of course, you will want to see it and operate it before buying it. But they are a great little machine. I am constantly surprised at their ability. Good luck

Yes, but can I trailer it 1K+ miles and is it worth the asking price ( I figure I can get it for $8K or so) to do so?

My opinion is yes to the trailing question. As Couple of Achers stated - the trailer should have brakes and be tandem (dual) axle. You'll need a brake controller for the truck. Other options are a leveling hitch and sway control but they may not be necessary depending how the tractor/trailer tows.

The price is excellent as equipped as long as the tractor has not been abused. See if you can put down a deposit and play with it for a week. That will expose any concerns.

Since it is a local guy that did not use it commercially the deal should be seriously considered.

Agree with the previous posts, sounds like a good buy. If you don't have a trailer, you can probably rent one from U Haul and they have good braking and handling. I have pulled a lot more weight with a smaller truck; should be fine with the half ton.

One other thing to think about that may sway your decision is that the BXxx's or much rarer on the used market then the BXxxxx's. Right now, for example, on tractorhouse there are 95 BXxxxx's, but only 30 BXxx's. So it may be awhile before you would find another BXxx on the used market. And even rarer yet to find one for around $8K.

If you are moving 1100 miles are you doing the moving?
If you are have the moving co do the move then have them transport it.

A friend had a 3rd car it was a mg when he moved he drove it in to the moving van they put them beam thingys over it and blankets on top of car and loaded the rest of the van for the move with the furniture.

they got to new house and reversed procedure.

If you have the time to invest in the trip, it seems to be an exceptional deal on the machine. If it was left outside, it is a pretty good deal. If it was stored inside, it is a wicked-good deal.

Regarding the trailer, absolutely on the 1/2 ton truck. I would ask about the trailer, though. If it is a single-axle without trailer brakes, I'd hesitate. I've towed an uncomfortable 400 miles WITHOUT backhoe with a 3,500# rated single axle trailer. Add the backhoe and it gets even more difficult. If you have a dual axle trailer (rated 5,000# and up, I'd assume) with brakes on at least 1 axle, then you're good to go in my book.

So you know, the commonly agreed-to "perfect" size to carry one of these tractors is a 7,000# capacity 16' long dual axle trailer with brakes on both axles. Dovetail or flatbed. You can do it with less, but it's all a little trickier.
